Asustek set to launch new U series notebook -----

Asustek Computer is set to launch a new notebook, the U36 under its "ultra-thin" U series product line later; however, despite the machine's ultra-thin design, it adopts Intel's standard TDP processors instead of ultra-low voltage (ULV) models, helping the notebook offer both performance and mobility in one.

The U36 adopts a 13-inch panel with a chassis thickness of 1.9cm. Instead of a ULV processor, the device will adopt either a Core i3-380M or Core i5 processor. It will while feature Nvidia Optimus technology as well as Asustek's own power saving technology to allow 10 hours of running time. Asustek will also add USB 3.0 support.

Pricing will be set at around NT$35,000 ($1,375) for an 8-cell battery model. The machine is expected to appear at Taiwan's IT Month trade show on December 4.
