Xbox 360 HD-DVD: $200
Microsoft's Xbox division announced the North American price for the upcoming Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive this morning. The accessory will retail for just under $200, the company says. Microsoft said the drive will be released in November, but the company didn't give a precise date.
If you're keeping track, that means someone wanting an Xbox 360 with a 20 gigabyte hard drive, plus the separate HD-DVD drive, will end up spending about $600. Combined, that would be about the same price as the high-end PlayStation 3 with 60-gigabyte hard drive and the built-in Blu-ray drive.
At an event in Spain this morning, Microsoft also made a series of "Halo" announcements, including an expanded partnership with filmmaker Peter Jackson, who will work with Bungie Studios on a future installment of the video game. (In addition to his work on the separate "Halo" movie.)

I've seen there are specs floating around from MS with a HD-DVD drive built into the 360.
I've got my money that by Xmas 2007 there will be a newer 360 with the drive built it, and will cost the same as the current 360.
