Do We Need an Apple-like Microsoft Store?

As we all know, the Microsoft Store consists of retail stores and an online shopping site owned and operated by Microsoft. Microsoft uses this method to "improve the PC and Microsoft retail purchase experience for consumers worldwide and help consumers make more informed decisions about their PC and software purchases." Others can say, "hey Microsoft, stop copying Apple's idea."We know Apple can stock almost all of its product line in its Apple stores but can Microsoft do the same? What if they have a two-story store, would that make a difference and entice you to go to them to purchase their products? Apple can showcase their iPhones easily but can Microsoft showcase every Windows Phone 7 handset on display?

Yes they can! I want a Microsoft store now in London! :-)
PS: MS could you possibly build the first UK store in Convent Garden, just across the half eaten apple store??

What an outrageous suggestion!
The manner by which Apple locks customers in and restricts trade is what makes their iTunes so profitable, however it is only a matter of time before anti-trust laws come into play to give the consumers back their due rights. Meanwhile, Apple can only lose credibility and reputation as it considers "bricking" its products to prevent consumers exercising their choice of what software they load onto the products they have bought.
So, no. The last thing MS should consider is adopting Apple's deplorable business practices, which are at the heart of their iTunes store concept.
(Just MHO).
Joe.

I think Microsoft and Mac are too big for their britches. We need a third contender. Only one I can think of is the rather obtuse world of Linux. I say obtuse, because someone gave me a copy of Ubuntu
10 xx whatever and there was NO option for a dial up (that's dumb), which I'm forced to use in my rural area. Can't afford the high speed thing. Also: I hate command lines. Wastes too much time patching things together that should just work from the git go. Also - Whats this Dev thing you run across. Don't they know how to spell DEVICE ? Definition of a computer: A device to speed up errors.
:-))
