Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor 2 -----

Posted on Oct 21 2009 05:48 PM by xper  in Software | Viewed 6014 Times

Download and run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to see if your PC is ready for Windows 7. It scans your hardware, devices, and installed programs for known compatibility issues, gives you guidance on how to resolve potential issues found, and recommends what to do before you upgrade.

Before you begin:
Be sure to plug in and turn on any USB devices or other devices, such as printers, external hard disks, and scanners, that you regularly use with the PC you're checking.

The Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor scans your PC for potential compatibility issues and lets you know about your Windows 7 upgrade options. Within minutes, you'll get a report that tells you if your PC meets the system requirements, if any known compatibility issues with your hardware, devices, and installed programs are found, and gives guidance on what to do to before installing Windows 7 on your PC.

It will collect information about your applications programs, hardware devices, exe, sys, dll to Microsoft repository, and then check against their database, and send you a report about whether your system is applicable for upgrade or custom installation. Also, you can use its winsat.exe, aeinventory.exe, and havtools to check if your computer supports Intel-VT!

IF one is upgrading from w2k pro sp4, w7 advisor wont run even
if the computer meets all the specs of the minimal w7 hardware
requirements. One gets not a win32 application. Msoft needs to
upgrade w7 advisor such that it can run as a standalone
regardless of the underlying windows OS such that the standalone
boots from floppy/cd/dvd/flash etc into memory and is allowed to
run the test without booting into the OS that advisor doesn't
like.
