Office 2003 SP3 Blocking older file formats. It seems that more and more people having problems with opening older file formats after installing SP3. The formats for early versions of Word, Excel, or Powerpoint are now being blocked with intension. Microsoft's excuse for this behavior is that the earlier file formats from Microsoft and its rivals are "less secure" then the formats in Office 2003 and 2007 and so Microsoft sees them as vulnerability. Microsoft placed a KB on there site for the people who want to read there older file formats. It’s not a complete solution but more a workaround by editing registry entries/settings. Please read more here in Microsoft’s KB938810. To inform you, puntoMX More info with these KBs: QUOTE 941636 You receive an error message when you try to open a file or to save a file after you install Office 2003 Service Pack 3 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;EN-US;941636 QUOTE 945800 Error message when you try to save a document in Word 2007 or in Word 2003: "You are attempting to save a file that is blocked by your registry policy setting" http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;EN-US;945800 QUOTE 945797 Error message when you try to save a file in Excel 2007 or in Excel 2003: "You are attempting to save a file that is blocked by your registry policy setting" http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;EN-US;945797 QUOTE 922848 You receive an error message when you try to open a file type that was blocked by your registry policy settings in Excel 2007 or in Excel 2003

A worker from Microsoft already posted some registry files in his MSDN-blog. It’s a faster way them Microsoft describes in his KB.
