Office 2003 SP3 Blocking older file formats.

It seems that more and more people having problems with opening older file formats after installing SP3. The formats for early versions of Word, Excel, or Powerpoint are now being blocked with intension.

Microsoft's excuse for this behavior is that the earlier file formats from Microsoft and its rivals are "less secure" then the formats in Office 2003 and 2007 and so Microsoft sees them as vulnerability.

Microsoft placed a KB on there site for the people who want to read there older file formats. It’s not a complete solution but more a workaround by editing registry entries/settings.

Please read more here in Microsoft’s KB938810.

A worker from Microsoft already posted some registry files in his MSDN-blog. It’s a faster way them Microsoft describes in his KB.
