I clicked for XP Pro, for everyday use, or workstation.

Win2k is not bad either, but I think XP is easier...

I didn't play enough with win2k3 to have a clear idea, and to really know what distinguishes it from win2k server.

If anyone votes for Windows ME their IP should be banned from this board, or the entire internet. Or a beating. A beating by every board member sounds good too.

XP is by far the greatest, and anyone who disagrees obviously doesn't know how to maintain a computer. I'm kind of disappointed to hear though that Longhorn MAY not be done until 2008. I mean, that's still 5 years away. I'm only 20 right now. Heck, I could have a child by then. Microsoft needs to get on the ball. Or whatever it is that monopolistic corporations get on.

I'm actually hoping Longhorn is delayed until '08. As part of the Microsoft Campus Agreement if I graduate from college while my college is still offering XP as part of the MSCA then I get to keep it forever. Otherwise, I have to destroy my copy and buy Longhorn--something I really don't want to do. I dislike the direction MS is taking Windows and I intend to stick with XP (that is, until I get a 64-bit processor and decide to get a 64-bit OS to run on it, although by that time maybe gaming on Linux will be a bit better...) Anyway, enough of my off-topic rambling. My vote is for XP Pro, although if 2000 had visual styles and disk performance was a good as XP I'd vote for that. smile.gif

My god... It's 4 years off.. how can you be sure exactly where Windows is going? Look at what MS said about the Xbox just a year before it was released. You can not judge your opinion on a BETA of an OS that isn't due for 4 years...

On my laptop I use XP pro, simply because I "trimmed the fat" and it runs like a champ, I tried 2000pro but the battery life was horrid. On the Desktop I use server 2003, and the other box is BSD. smile.gif
