hi everyone,

Scenario
recently, I decided I should learn how a lot of sites go about making all those web portals, so some friendly advice lead me to start looking into PHPNuke. in conclusion, I have no idea how to start or even what to do... so any help would be much obliged

Problem 1
Well, to be honest, I have no idea where to start.
First of all, I will need a server with
- A Linux Box (http://www.linux.com) Installed and working properly.
- Apache Web Server (http://www.apache.org)
- PHP version 4.xx (mod_php) Apache module (http://www.php.net)
- MySQL database server (http://www.mysql.com) with PhpMyAdmin

Any recommendations for some cheap solution I can start testing out this whole idea of web portals?

By the way.... I'm just guessing that the easiest method to get phpnuke set up is to find some hosting with all the above requirements...

Also please, if you know of any phpnuke set up guides on the net.. let me know.. thanks...

Yo ... try Crazyhosting.dk! Try talking to the guy who have the site ( ICQ: 111590242) explain why you want hosting and maybe he'll give it to ya 4 free smile.gif

Its on a 2mbit / 2 mbit line and has (as far as I know) all the above things ..

babis: PHP Nuke was a wrong idea. Use what a lot of people use, InvisionBoard, even MSFN uses it.

Easy to setup> FULLY Customizable, a lot of skins made.

They even have a cheap hosting service, or my friends can host it on there OC Lines for free.
