Thanks Neo, this is the first one that I tried. It refused to install saying that the platform was unsupported sad.gif .

I have however managed to force AVG Enterprise (Beta) to install (even though a message came up again saying Server 2008 was not supported). I had big problems configuring it to allow the network connectivity that I need. In the end I had to totally disable the firewall and "Web Shield". When I have more time, I will try again to re-enable these components.

I haven't seen any virus signatures etc being updated as yet. don't know whether this is a feature of the "beta" version or because its an unsupported platform.

Graham.

Thanks aviv00,

I don't know this product. Do you have a link to it?

You can also (removed) search for Symantec Endpoint Protection 11. It works on and was designed to support WS2008. I'm running it right now on 2k8 x64.

Iceman, was I in violation of the rules suggesting SEP? I didn't provide any links or anything, but I wasn't sure. If so, I will refrain from suggestions like those from now on.

Yes - torrenting isn't bad per-se like any P2P package, but the product is a commercial one and is non-free. Therefore, get it from the vendor and do not use alternate means (like file-sharing), as this almost always means an illegal copy (not always, but most of the time). Therefore, we consider using torrents to get commercial packages warez, yes. Do not do it again.

I understand. It's too bad you can't buy Symantec's corporate stuff in individual licenses, because SEP is very nice, and I like it a lot better than Norton. And yes, I'm using it legitimately. biggrin.gif

NOD32 AV Business Edition works very nicely on Server 2008. So, does Online Armor Pro as a firewall. Both are top notch in their class.

McAfee Enterprise 8.5i runs smoothly. I think it's lighter than Symantec Corporate.

I could'nt get Symantec Endpoint Protection 11 to load. Anyone know what the attached error is all about. Did a few restarts but that made no difference.

SEP11 works fine for me. What version are you using? I'm running 11.0.2.2000 MR2. Also, the SEP install tends to say that alot, for any little thing that might have installed. All I can say is try the latest version or reboot a few more times. Do you have any devices installing on reboot?

Using SEP Build 11.0.2000.1253. There's no devices installing on Reboot. I've started using ClamWin and PC Tools Firewall, so I think I'll just leave that as it is for now since this is just a HTPC.
