Hi Guys

I am very new to PE and deployment

I had used RIS before but have started working for a new company that have asked me to install a software deployment server so I chose mainly cause we get it as part of are MS subscription to use SCCM 2007

I have configured a number of software packages which are rollng out fine but I am now looking at doing OS deployment

What I am trying to achieve (which seemed nice and simple in RIS) is to create a basic image (just XP no software) that I can apply to machines using PXE, then I will assign all the drivers and software as tasks

Has anyone been able to achieve anything like this or does anyone know the steps to get this done

thanks in advance

It will be more reliable to use an unattended setup using RIS and not images. Images with XP should be per-hardware, although it is possible to make generic XP images, it can cause you problems.
