I would like to make a feature request about installing the contents of 'HFGUIRUNONCE' directly from CD, just like it's done with 'HFSVCPACK'.

Maybe even a variable in 'HFANSWER.INI' could change this behaviour...

It's because i install all my apps and regtweaks from 'HFGUIRUNONCE', since as you guys know, then some stuff dosen't work right from T-13, but this then unfortunetly means that the apps aren't installed directly from CD if i'm not using 'HFSVCPACK'.

Before i changed to using HFSLIP, then i always installed my apps through the "RunOnceEx from CD" method, so that's why i ask...

Just a thought smile.gif

Well... This is going to be difficult.

There are pre-alphas available of HFSLIP 2.0 ("HFSLIP 2.0 in the works" thread), and it does almost everything from the hard disk; the only things that will still be performed from CD are Type 1 hotfixes in HFSVCPACK_SW1, Type 2 hotfixes in HFSVCPACK_SW2, and *.cmd files in HFSVCPACK.

The same thing is already done in HFSLIP64, and the reason behind this change is to better support network-based installs. I want to support as many scenarios as possible, and your wish would actually make things worse in that respect.

Why is it so important to you to have everything done from CD?

Hi Tomcat76 smile.gif

After having reread the HFSLIP v2.0 changelog, then i feel pretty stupid for having posted such a lame feature request wacko.gif

I had actually read it before, when you first posted the thread about it, but must admit, that i had completely forgotten all about that specific change...

Simply to avoid wasting additional time on copying files over from CD to harddrive and to delete the files again after the installations had finished. Effeciency...

I guess i just thought that it was a little strange that it was done directly from CD with T-13 installs, but not with the 1st logon installs...

Anyway, i perfectly understand your motives for not wanting to implement this now...

Many thanks for your reply, mate smile.gif

I don't think it's lame. I could come up with a set up that allows either one or the other, but it would take some time to work out.

Yeahh, installing apps directly from CD isn't lame, but asking feature requests that goes completely against the changelog of the upcomming HFSLIP v2.0 version is kinda retarded newwink.gif

Anyway, i really apreciate you're considering this, and especially since i'm well aware of the big workload you're allready having on your shoulders, so i just wanted to say thank you so much for that, my friend smile.gif

CU, Martin.
