I realize this MAY NOT be a XP problem but i have to say i never noticed it on any other OS..What i have is single boot machine with XP corp ( the real one) and a WD 7200 RPM 100Gig Drive...with my drive partitioned with 2 other partitions...one for downloads and one for storage....Now my dilemma is whenever i try and move a file from one of my OTHER partitions to my desktop it leaves a copy of the file on the partition..that i have to go back and delete after moving the file...Does anyone know if in fact there is a setting somewhere in XP that i can disable this function??...i have serached to no avail in XP and cant find anything....Any help would be appreciated...biggrin.gif

Were you "dragging" the file to another location? The only thing I can think of is to cut and paste.

This [b:4d1476177c]isn't[/b:4d1476177c] a bug.

Try holding down SHIFT when dragging files between drives. It will move the files instead of making copies. The default behavior is to copy between drives, and move files on the same drive. Pressing SHIFT while dragging the files reverses the default behavior in both instances.
