welcome.gif

While doing an unattended install for XP for my wub.gif friend, I get a popup message that just says 1155: and "OK" as an option. It stops at this point and only proceeds if you click on the "OK".

wacko.gif WTF?????

Has anyone had this before and knows how to get rid of it?

Not sure what it means in the context of hfslip, but if it's a windows error dialog the standard error for an 1155 is:

ERROR_NO_ASSOCIATION
No application is associated with the specified file for this operation.

You are replacing 2 system files from HFEXPERT\WIN. Have you tried to remove them?

Also, remove scripten.exe (may cause problems) and wmfdist.exe (this is for Windows 2000; and don't replace it with the Windows XP version because wmfdist95.exe doesn't apply to SP3).

While you're at it, you can also clean up the HFCABS folder:
BDANT.cab --> ignored
BDAXP.cab --> ignored
daemon4122-lite-x86.cab --> ignored
dxdllreg_x86.cab --> ignored
dxnt.cab --> ignored
dxupdate.cab --> ignored
Mar2008_XAudio_x86.cab --> ignored by HFSLIP 1.x

welcome.gif Thanks guys...

About cleaning up the HFCABs...

will do, but why are those DirectX 9.0c files and Daemon4122-lite-x86.cab ignored? unsure.gif

Is there any way to still slipstream it into the installation or am I forced to get the .exe version of Daemon lite and add it to the GUIRunOnce in Winnt.sif?

Yes, I've tried removing the expert/win files, but that hasn't helped.
I just replaced some rather ugly windows bitmaps.

I originally wanted to replace the boot logo in the ntoskrnl.exe, but for some reason that never works even though I followed all the instructions to the letter that I found anywhere on the internet... (tried all sorts of resource editors: Resedit, Resource Hacker etc.) - I have no idea why that doesn't work because I did it with Win 2000 all the time and never had any problems and had also done it successfully before I added service pack 3 to Win XP. Of course I HFslipped the whole thing once without changing the bootlogo and then used the ntoskrnl.exe that was in my sourcess folder for changing the bootlogo and then
put that in the expert/win file and re-slipstreamed the whole thing again, but it just didn't work. So much for personalizing windows for my wub.gif friend, so I just ended taking that file out of the expert/win and dropped the idea. Has anyone had any success in doing that with a slipstreamed service pack 3? Oh well, sorry... that must be off topic. Don't bother to answer that here...

I'm starting to get the impression that the problem might be an HP driver inf that the installation tries to access on its own for the hardware on the notebook. I'll try the install without any extra drivers other than the SATA that I need at bootup this evening and tell you the results.

BDANT.cab --> for Windows 2000
BDAXP.cab --> for Windows XP Gold and Windows XP SP1
daemon4122-lite-x86.cab --> HFCABS is only for files with specific names; it's not a general folder for CAB files
dxdllreg_x86.cab --> only handled if BDANT.cab or BDAXP.cab are processed too
dxnt.cab --> for Windows 2000, Windows XP Gold, Windows XP SP1 and Server 2003
dxupdate.cab --> doesn't contain files of use to slipstream DX9
Mar2008_XAudio_x86.cab --> it's a new file and HFSLIP wasn't updated for it yet

It would help if you told me what it is. If it's an application addon, please refer to the HFSLIP web site because HFSLIP supports application addons in CAB, 7z and RAR format.

Put those three files in HFEXPERT\APPREPLACEMENT. They exist in the source so you'll get duplicate entries in TXTSETUP.SIF if they are placed in HFEXPERT\WIN. This folder should only be used for new files. Also, HFEXPERT\WIN is processed after any drivers are processed, so a new DRIVER.CAB or SPX.CAB with the newer ntoskrnl.exe is not created, and I think that's what's causing your problem. The ntoskrnl.exe in SP3.CAB is being used by Windows but that's the original SP3 version. So HFEXPERT\APPREPLACEMENT is where you should be putting it in.

Keep us posted if that helped.

Have you already tried it on another machine, just to test?

by the way, if that daemon cab is the addon i created, it'll have to be added only via nlite cuz it's a hybrid addon (installs partly from svcpack and partly from guirunonce). otherwise if it was a regular svcpack addon you could just have extracted the executable inside the can in the HFSVCPACK folder.

if you use the later version of my daemon tools (v4.1.2.3) addon, it's in two parts. the executable from inside the first cab (SPTD) would go in HFSVCPACK and the executable from the second cab (daemon tools) would go in HFGUIRUNONCE
