Hi! I just run HFSLIP 1.7.7 on an XPSP3 source + IE7 + WMP11 and WU wants me to have KB898461 (package installer).
Why??? isn't this a really old update?

I have ran previous versions of HFSLIP (like 1.7.6) on XPSP3 and the same updates and WU didn't ask for KB898461.

Should I just put it in HF? or should I handle it some other way?

Here's the log:

Oh, and BTW, why does TC include
KB929399
KB936782
KB939683

KB938127

In his XP SP3 updates list, even when WU doesn't ask for them?
I mean, after installing XP SP3 with IE7 & WMP11 slipstreamed, MU only asks for KB890830, KB941569, KB947864 & (god knows why) KB898461.
bye!

This has been covered many times and it's one of the reason why HFSLIP 1.7.7 was released. MS suddenly want you to have it.

I have tested this with a non-HFSLIPped installation (just XP OEM + SP3) and WU asked for it then too.

It's possible they are obsolete with SP3, but the binaries in those updates are newer. That's the only reason I'm including them.

So, what should I do?

Should I include KB898461 and the WMP11 & IE7 updates (namely KB938127)in HF or not?
Actually, if I don't include 'em, WU does not want me to have 'em (except - obviously- 898461 & 941569).

bye!

Include the ones that WU wants you to have. The rest is up to you.
