  2. WinXP Drivers for GTX 10xx video cards

not possible, only the early 10x series are supported, because after the driver 372.70 the full support for vista has been dropped (supports 1080 1070 and 1060 only) that too a modified driver not officially supported. unless someone can modify it like this softpedia one its not possible, you can ofcourse try to install 1060GTX Drivers im quite sure it would work but dont expect any performance from it,you can expect some video playback and be able to play some low powered games it wont utilise your gfx like intended

  4. Latest Version of Software Running on XP

Hopefully @blackwingcat will again create modified installers for Java 8. I hope the problem is just the installer, like in the past.
  5. Final Versions of Working Software on Windows XP

For two years now, I've been maintaining the last web browsers on 9x, NT 4.0, 2000, XP, and Vista. I'm a bit surprised no one on MSFN has taken the task after the discontinuation of XP for a couple years now, so I thought I might as well take this into my own hands. I am also considering doing this for 9x and Windows 2000 due to the lack of updating by their OPs. Thread under construction! I will continuously update the thread.Currently, I am importing software from this topic. I will later add links onto available free software. 6. Latest Version of Software Running on XP

@dencorso Although I got the notification, the installer does not actually run! When double-clicking, nothing happens. Either there is an compatibility issue with the installer, or as of update 161 Java 8 is no longer compatible with Windows XP. If you already uninstalled the previous version (Java JRE 8 Update 152) and need to restore it, it's on my FTP here: http://sdfox7.com/xp/sp3/EOL/jre-8u152-windows-i586.exe

  8. Latest Version of Software Running on XP

Java JRE 8 Update 161 was released today, January 16, 2018. I just got the automatic update notification on my Windows XP SP3 system:
  9. The purpose of this thread is to compile a list of updates that need to be downloaded and installed manually in order to prevent Microsoft Update from being unable to finish its search for updates. I don't have all features installed, so it's possible this list is still incomplete. (last revised: January 17, 2018) IE8 on POSReady 2009 * KB4052978 Cumulative security update (2017-12) IE8 on XP SP3 * KB4018271 Cumulative security update (2017-06) Office Compatibility Pack SP3 * KB3213641 Security update for OGL (2017-09) * KB3213644 Security update for Powerpoint (2017-09) * KB4011201 Security update for MSO (2018-01) * KB4011265 Security update for Word (2017-11) * KB4011605 Security update for Excel (2018-01) Let me know how it works out and if the list needs to be revised.
  10. The PSU and video card were replaced: no problems thus far. It looks like it was a PSU problem.
  11. WinXP Drivers for GTX 10xx video cards

The Palit GT 1030 KalmX has been on my radar, but I settled for an Asus GT710-SL-2GD5 instead just last week because of a lack of XP drivers. It's an upgrade from the Zotac GT 610 Zone Edition I had before, but it's not as big as I had hoped for. Hopefully the support range will be increased for the above driver package.
  12. Runouce Virus in Windows 7

Hi guys, I dont know if this has been posted before sorry for duplication (if any). My Pc with Windows 7 (32bit) has become virtually non usable after i got the virus Runouce. I did a clean installation of Windows 7 but it is still there... scanned with malwarebytes anti malware and removed the virus but after i restarted the PC the virus came back. Tried Safe Mode but nothibg is working... i am attaching few error logs and scan log here in the post archived in zip. Any help will be appreciated.
  13. Sounds like a DRM problem. The LGE may use a version that isn't supported by XP. What connection type did you use for each the Dell and LGE: VGA, DVI, HDMI? Try reconnecting the Dell without changing drivers. If this works, reconnect the LGE using the same connection type, else uninstall the new drivers and restore system settings from a backup.
  14. Explorer.exe and file sizes in Win9x

KernelEx v4.5.2 patches Kernel32.dll in memory. KernelEx v4.5.1 patches Kernel32.dll on disk, however v4.5 Final Changelog.txt states: "KernelEx doesn't need to be reinstalled anymore if kernel32 is updated".

  16. DirectPlay 9.0c & Intel PRO/1000 GT on 98SE

The earlier test I mentioned failed on DirectX 9.0c. So far as I can remember I had at that time following specs: Win98SE, SP2.03 (last dutch service pack), IO.SYS update/patch and NUSB 3.3. No IE6, no KernelEx. Plus NDIS2-driver of course. I have been googling a bit, in connection with DirectPlay-problems registering DPNET.DLL was "somewere" mentioned. I just tried in "Run" with "REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\DPNET.DLL (without the "" !). There was the succes-message from DllRegisterServer.
  17. KernelEx for Win2000

Hi I have tried to install this on IBM Thinkpad T60 (beforehand I've downloaded and installed all the drivers from here: https://thinkpads.com/support/Thinkpad-Drivers/download.lenovo.com/lenovo/content/ddfm/T60p.html exept wifi which I got from http://www.nobu-usa.com/drivers/n8wts_v1.0/intel_wireless_2915ABG/WinXP and everything worked just fine but then I wanted to extend windows 2000 as I wanted newest Firefox and Firebird but then problems started) Pro/Wireless_TIC_125458_v10.5.1.0_XP32_Connection_Software.exe ) I tried installing 28c English and after I restarted my Fingerprint reader stooped working and I couldn't connect to WIFI anymore I am using Intel Wireless drivers from here: http://www.nobu-usa.com/drivers/n8wts_v1.0/intel_wireless_2915ABG/WinXP Pro/Wireless_TIC_125458_v10.5.1.0_XP32_Connection_Software.exe Intel ProWireless says: Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Software was unable to detect a supported wireless adapter. For some reason if I uninstall it and reinstall it again it will work til I reboot than it will stop working (10.5 is the only version I was able to make it work under Windows 2000) Can you Help me Thanks for Anwsering and Best Regards I realy don't want to chose between WIFI and KernelX (but I would realy like to use KernelX) Can anyone recomend the most stable version there is right now but First I have to reinstall Windows 2000 because I've installed Windows2000-KB935839-v29b-x86-ENU then because Wireless and Fingerprint reader broke I've installed Windows2000-KB935839-v28c-x86-ENU thinking that this one would work (I saw it working here: ) and then as it didn't help I've uninstalled Windows2000-KB935839-v28c-x86-ENU after that I've uninstalled Windows2000-KB935839-v29b-x86-ENU and after reboot Windows 2000 doesn't boot again
  18. WinXP Drivers for GTX 10xx video cards

Actually, I'm looking for Nvidia GTX 1050Ti driver.
  19. Installing either 98SE or ME on Compaq Mini CQ10-101SA

Thanks, I'll check out some of this later on ^^ I would use it for less internet based activity and more for retro gaming and the like ^^
  20. I have tried both UltraUXThemePatcher and UxTSB recently but they don't make any difference either, I think something has been broken when I forgot to remove UxStyle before the update to FCU and the problems I had with the unsigned themes service crashing the theme picker and then disappearing. I'll give the AppInitDLLs method a try tomorrow but if that doesn't work i'll just have to make do with how it is at the moment. Thanks for the help.
  21. You need a working patcher that allows usage of unsigned themes. There's no ideal solution, but if you are careful and switch to default theme before installing a major update, UltraUXThemePatcher works the best. Though any update could replace one of the theming DLLs with unpatched one, so Windows will likely BSOD when trying to load unsigned theme if you forget to switch back. There are also UxTSB DLLs by BigMuscle in the other thread somewhere in this forum section, but the only way to use them is either by letting Aero Glass inject it at logon, which may not work reliably, or use AppInitDLLs method, which doesn't work on computers with secure boot. And even then, not everything works 100% properly, eg. you can't switch to a theme by double-clicking .theme file in Explorer.
  22. I've been trying to find a replacement theme but haven't found anything that works yet. When I install the themes and go into the theme settings screen all the themes look the same. When I apply them all that changes is the colour scheme, the rest of it stays as the windows 10 default theme. I think something may be broken in the theme picker.
  23. DirectPlay 9.0c & Intel PRO/1000 GT on 98SE

Thanks for the kind offer! Testing would depend on getting some more info from deomsh's testing. Sounds like good testing! What was the original flavor of Windows and DX that the test was failing on? What was the fresh install you tested on, pure MS Win98SE or some other flavor? Thank you, DJ
  24. DISM needed (x64)

    wow thanks for sharing that
  25. In any case, take such software from Steve Gibson with more than one grain of salt... he's been involved in too many controversies to be trusted blindly.
  26. On the subject of Meltdown and Specter, according to this test, an Intel P4 is affected. Unfortunately, it is the problem that Intel still AMD published a more detailed list of affected CPU's. A patch for Windows can unfortunately mitigate this problem, even if the BIOS / UEFI the microcode was patched, the real problem remains. Only a new CPU helps where the architecture no longer allows these forms of attacks.
  27. DirectPlay 9.0c & Intel PRO/1000 GT on 98SE

I use Realtek NDIS2-driver for my NIC. Lately I had to run some tests with DxDiag. Just for fun I run DirectPlay test - negative! Was not a problem for me, I never use DirectPlay, so I postponed the problem. Your problem interested me. I renamed my Windows-directory and tested on a fresh one with DirectX 6.1. DxDiag gave no error. I installed DirectX 7.0, 9.0b and 9.0c - check, check, check. The TCP/IP-console opened always. For the moment thats enough for me.
