Try running performance monitor (perfmon) on your system for a few hours, then review to see if you have any process or memory anomalies.
Are you seeing high cpu spikes? Is your memory usage up from what it was before the issue started? |

Well, running perfmon in high CPU mode would definitely help.

Also, go to Device Manager and check the IDE controller entries and see what the transfer mode is at. If it's in PIO mode, Windows probably downgraded it to PIO mode because of HDD corruption. |

You may also want to lower the priority of its processes, using the Task Manager.

Backup your data now! Hard disk errors usually indicate a failure may be coming soon!

Uninstall the KAV, and run msconfig and disable all non-Microsoft services and all startup items and reboot.
Does the problem then persist? |

i never had any problem with kaspersky anti-virus nor kaspersky internet security. that kind of problem sounds like maybe windows went crazy on some drivers (too bad this hapens kinda often sometimes). try uninstall/install of all your drivers to see if that corrects the problem.
you didnt posted what processes were eating your cpu/memory. if this happens, normally, they are the problem and the solution, just reinstall the program(s) that are eating resources. the last solution, stick to The Windows Golden Rule: "if the problem is not too bad, reboot. If the problem is critical, reformat." |

QUOTE ok i fixed my hdd error with norton system work 2006 tools and uninstalled my av and still have the problem. Actually, to fix that problem, you're required to replace the IDE cable (this also applies to SATA, which uses a narrower cable) Or if using an IDE driver from the chipset manufacturer, please go back to the Microsoft IDE driver. Some IDE drivers are buggy. Had a buggy IDE driver cause Windows to suddenly start BSOD'ing and rebooting. Also, while your at it, please get SMARTmon tools at: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/smartmo...32.zip?download and check the SMART values of your HDD! Even when SMARTmon tools says that SMART is disabled, it may still be enabled and it seems to still read the SMART values from the HDD. |
