  1. This is absolutely normal behavior nowadays. Before searching for updates: 1. If You have Office 2003 download and install manually KB3203427 and KB3203484 (see my list earlier in this topic). 2. Same for Office 2007 compatibility pack: You should install KB3127894, KB3191828, KB3203436 and KB3203438. 3. And finally, if You have IE8, You should install KB4021558. After that, restart Your system and perform search for updates again. The list should appear after a few minutes.

  3. To check if system protection is enabled, I would probably use the registry to determine if RPSessionInterval is greater than 0. In a batch file to enable system protection on the OS drive with a maximum 15% size I would try this As administrator: @ECHO OFF SET "rKey=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SystemRestore" SET "rVal=RPSessionInterval" SET "dVal=" FOR /F "EOL=H Tokens=2*" %%# IN ('REG Query "%rKey%" /V "%rVal%" 2^>NUL' ) DO SET/A "dVal=%%$" IF NOT DEFINED dVal (ECHO ERROR! & PAUSE & EXIT/B) IF %dVal% EQU 0 ( WMIC /NameSpace:\\root\default PATH SystemRestore CALL Enable %SystemDrive%) VSSADMIN Resize Shadowstorage /For=%SystemDrive% /On=%SystemDrive% /MaxSize=15%% This is untested, (I am not telling you to change scripting language, just showing you a method of detection of the state of the mechanism).

  5. j7n If you refer to my post above, you will see I got WinRAR 5.50 beta running on Windows 2000. This was originally Windows 2000 RTM from February 2000. The only updates I used were Service Pack 4, the Service Pack 4 Security Rollup (SRP), and the UURollup from 2014. I am not sure if WinRAR 5.50 would run without those major updates. I prefer those updates (minimum SP4) because they improve functionality and stability of the system. You CANNOT install just the UURollup! Many people think you will get all the updates by doing so, but you will not. It's only a 46MBfile and does not include all of the updates of SP4 and the SRP.

  7. may be true, but there's one single good point. when I find out that a service is going berserk, I can easily kill it without having to kill other just because they share a process. Sometimes this happened when I lost network connectivity just because the LAN port isnt perfect and stuff and immediately cranks up my Laptops CPU up to 100% and I kinda cant find out which service is at fault because a whole lot of them are in one of those processes. but one thing that might help would be just annihilating services that arent needed. and not creating a service for literally every little crap.

  8. I installed 11.00.20. It seems to work, but I've done no significant testing, "extensive" or otherwise.

  12. I bought SSD Tweaker Pro and tested. It seems to support only Microsoft AHCI driver. (Vista and later) Not supported Intel AHCI driver And this application execute " fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify" every second. But this parameter supported Widnows 7. And I found some bugs. I think this application is useless. http://blog.livedoor.jp/blackwingcat/archives/1922932.html Here is detail report. (Japanese) I'm sad this wasteful spending
