Choosing a Custom install, in my opinion, is more of an 'experienced' choice.

I deselected the AC3Filter installation on custom installs purposely because recent developments in the ffdshow filters brings new audio decoding functionality to the user. This new functionality, at this time, will not co-exist with the AC3Filter components. An 'experienced' user would most likely choose to deselect AC3Filter if they were aware of the new audio decoding capabilities of ffdshow.

One other point to mention;
AC3Filter must be deselected during the installation to get full benifit of the ffdshow settings.
If AC3Filter is removed after the initial install, ffdshow will not get the settings to enable this new functionality.

Hope I have explained this to your satisfaction. (and thanks for asking)
