I've installed VCP 5.0.2 and the x64 components package 1.5.4 but I am still unable to see thumbnails for mp4 files in Vista x64. Does anyone know if it is possible to see thumbnails in explorer for these files?

Yes..you should see the thumbnails for .mp4 files in explorer. Have you tried running the Disk Cleanup Utility in Vista64 and ensuring that the delete thumbnails box is checked?

I ran it and it did not work. Any other ideas?

On a clean istallation of Vista x64 the Disk Cleanup Utility points to the 32bit version by default.

Rightclick the Disk Cleanup Utility and choose properties;
In the Target box: change SYSWOW64 to SYSTEM32

run the utility again, reboot, browse to the folder with the video's, thumbnails should get newly created.

this did not work either. I'm not sure what could be wrong.

I fixed this issue by running the remove conflicts utility, repairing the installation, and finally installing 5.04.

However, now all my m4v files have a black thumbnail. Is there anyway to get VCP to skip ahead a certain number of frames?
