Hi,
i would like to install the newest version of vista codec package, but i cant. I start it and after some secs an error message is coming (look at the screen). I have vista ultimate 32bit. No firewall, antivirus or whatever. What should i try? Or, what does this message means?
Thank you

I wasnt ignoring you, I simply forgot to reply. (you got my attention now though)

The only time I've seen that error is on a system that had an operating system other than english but the user had installed the default english selection. The fix is to re-install the same version you previously had choosing the same language as the operating system. (hopefully you know the version).

Same problem overhere... I get this message when truing to install new version 5.04 and I receive the error when trying to uninstall the old version 4.72.
Is there a solution? Of is there a workaround or manual method for removing?

I am unable to reproduce the error making it difficult to resolve the issue.
I beleive some antivirus / security software is causing this issue.
At this time, all I can suggest is re-installing the version refusing to uninstall
and then try the ununstaller again.

The problem (error code) appears but with installing the new version (5.04) as while (re)installing and/or unistalling the old version 4.72.
I have manually removed the entire installationfolder (before unloading with regsvr32 or someting the ffshow or something (dont know the exact name).
So at this point I can not do anything else... The virusscanner is diabled... any registry handling spossible?
Is there a solution? Of is there a workaround or manual method for removing?

Hi,
Two days ago i reinstalled my vista and after that i could install the codec package AND today i tried to install the newest version 5.0.6 but i cant. The same error. So i have to reinstall my vista again, if i want to use this codec packge xD I think this is not the best option. Sooo... i dont know. Maybe the error is only on "non-english" systems or something, i wish you guys could fix it. Good luck

Edit: On my Vista 64 i had never problems with Vista Codec Package x64 Components - but if i want to install there the standard Vista Codec Package(5.x.x), then i get the same error. That can help... maybe

When executing the installer
the 1st thing you see is language selection.
Choose the same language as the Operating System (Windows)
