Hi there, I installed the vcp and .mkv video files run from wmp11 just fine. Only thing is external srt subtitles won't run(I can't see that gree triangle on the taskbar). If I run a divx file from wmp11, everything is just fine, anyone can help? Thanks...

I'm having the exact same issue running Vista Media Center.
No LFE bass when playing DTS mkv files. DVDs with DTS sound works fine, including the LFE channel.
Any ideas about how to solve this would be great!

I have this problem to...
1. WMP11 and Vista (32) MCE doesn't display any external subtitles, though it loads internal if the movie has them.
I use
CoreAVC
Haali
VSFilter
Ffdshow
MPC loads Core, Haali and VSFilter and shows any MKV with subs.
It all works before, after an upgrade the problem started. Even tried to go back to earlier version but that doesn't help

try this...
In the 32bit Tools folder click on the Haali Media Splitter shortcut
select 'Options' from the upper TABS
expand 'Compatibility'
select 'Autoload VSfilter'
Lower portion of the window, set the value to 'yes'
expand 'Input'
select 'Try to open linked files'
Lower portion of the window, set the value to 'yes'
These settings will be the defaults for the next release.

here come a confirmed info i found :
VSFilter 2.37,2.36 and 2.35 don't work with winamp.
The latest version of VSFilter that works with winamp (loads embedded subtitles in MP4,3GP,MKV and OGM with Haali Splitter) is 2.34

Hey there !
Looked for the solution to this problem myself.
Found out the following, perhaps it can be of interest:
In the configuration for ffdshow video decoder (latest version), scroll down to "subtitles" and check the main box. That will activate subtitles in general, both embedded and external. Then you UNCHECK "Accept embedded subtitles". External .srt files will now load with the .mkv, even if there is an embedded subtitle in the .mkv (as long as the filenames matches, e.g. movie.mkv and movie.srt, and are in the same directory)
