Windows Vista Home Premium on an HP DV9235NR (Centrino Duo) laptop with dual internal drives, patched to whatever MS Update thinks is the latest.

Reinstalling the OS is just not an option. But it sure makes it difficult to post to this forum. Good thing all the images here have useful names. thumbup.gif

I've been running through the Google list of "sure-to-fix-its" without success

Well, not quite - starting IE as an admin does make it work, however as soon as a link pops open another IE browser, none of those images work anymore.

Note that any PNG I save to my desktop is correctly displayed, and that Show Images IS checked in IE.

Most of my family uses IE, so I'd like to fix this. I've moved to Opera, which is loverly, but still locks up on Vista from time to time, so it's not a perfect solution. Plus IE is much more the standard...

Help?!?

Thanks!

MS is working on a patch for this issue. Just check the KB articles from time to time to see if a hotfix was released to solve this issue.

Hmmm. It's been happening since at least XP (and some say back to W98), and MS is "working on it". Why am I not comforted that it will soon be in my hot little hands? whistling.gif

No way I'm reinstalling my OEM image, and HP doesn't provide Vista install CD/DVDs so I can't reinstall over the top and fix things.

Okiedokie, Opera it is in the interim.
