A long delayed fix version finally here.

Final will be out much faster, it just depends on your response on this one. Bugz and sprayz...

Btw if you reported some issue and it isn't fixed in this one (except for SFC) but you think it should have, maybe I missed it...please report it again.

Yours trully.

Changelog and download

edit: 10.11.2007 RC2
Fixed Network Provision removal. It was breaking all sorts of things. If you got error popup during install (first gui boot) or bunch of WMI and Com+ errors in the setuperr.log, or RPC something...just use this one and I apologize for any inconvenience.
ronmanp
yeah !! first one to say thank you for this great app!!!

Way to go Nuhi, perfection is not far off, although not much has been wrong

fix: My Computer - Context Menu tweaks

I think these fixes/updates were greatly awaited.

Good work after weekend!

WOW! your timing is impeccable.

Thanks for the early present Nuhi thumbup.gif A new release really is refreshing like rain.

hi nuhi,
great news ..
But no mention of Netlogon in the changelog blink.gif
Each time , I see someone saying in this forum, that Netlogon shouldn"t be removed.
Does all issues related to it, fixed ?
Currently there's an annoying "bug" in my nlited install:
each time I try to open a mht file with IE7, I get a BSOD.
Maybe it's linked to netlogon removal ? (didn't have time yet to check if this is the reason).
Gompedyret
ooh, nLite update!

An event! And as Rick says, excellent timing. newwink.gif
Keefa
Once again I thank you most humbly. This was eagerly awaited as always.
MarkCoolio
First of all THANKS a lot for this one! smile.gif

Just a small bug I guess: When starting 1.4 RC on a freshly installed system.. if u do not select an installation source (so leave the field blank) and go on "Next" -> nlite crashes with a .net failure.

Maybe u can take a look into it. However I guess it does not happen very often. I personally just forgot (honestly) to select the source and then had the error on my screen...
Outbreaker
MMM have you forgot the System Restore Bug ?
System Restore settings are not working. newwink.gif

And this bug also:

I was expecting netlogon on the changelog too, oh you forgot to add the IIS unattended thing you fixed aswell, where you had to redo some code or something like that (correct me if im wrong).

Netlogon for me just caused Installers not to work properly, but i doubt its the cause of every problem lol
nuhi
extrabigmehdim, only legolash2o said it but he likes to repeat it all over. I tried of course and in my case it was the NetDDE. Anyway no one else reported it, so lets wait and see. Maybe it's preset dependable.
For MHT I presume you kept the Outlook Express, try not to integrate IE7 if you do.

MarkCoolio, do you get that every time? I tried now with a blank and it just popups a message that I should use a CD...

Outbreaker, I don't recall anyone telling me about that. Gonna check. Also what System Restore bug? Percentage settings and disable in the unattended?

rado354, http://www.nliteos.com/addons/entries.html#UpdateCabs

legolash2o, how could you miss the IIS in the changelog. "x64 sp2 unattended IIS install (was breaking installation)".

You say that as if you know me (please don't), next time i just wont try n help + i always remove NetDDE n works fine so its probably is preset dependable... smile.gif

not to be big headed or anything but...

Ok thx for the link, it shows that it might be XP x64 SP2 only. Gonna retest.

Well, I get it every time... weird!

Anyways I have included the .net error message for your..

I second that! The percentage settings is bugged in a kind of random way or something.

I was trying to integrate intel textmode drivers (mass storage) by using nlite 1.4 RC.

There is an error saying

"The parameter is incorrect.
However, the integrated drivers may still work.
This usually happens if you do not have the administrator privileges."

although I am the computer administrator.

I wonder if there is anyone getting the same error?

Why , you don't use a disk clone utility like acronis true image ?
For me this system restore stuff is just crap.

Was that the point? No. just because majority of the people don't use it doesn't mean given bug shouldn't be fixed tongue.gif
(just for the record, I make custom installations at work and system restore simply has to be on)

Nice job Nuhi !
One question - have you test it or others using the all new IE7 from Microsoft ? I speak about the new release - updated and without WGA.

You can include it in hotfixes section in nLite. You could do this before this version was out but nLute would not slipstream it directly. It would be installed during T-13. Since this version nLite will directly replace updated files in your source.

This bug appears when you integrate IE7. This cause Windows File Protection to appear even if nothing is missing from system files. Simple driver installation or attaching usb device, and Windows File Protection will complain about missing files.

Is it better to put the slipstream addons in nLite ore to use the .exe file in nLite for the WinUpdates + IE7, WMP11 ?

Testing stopped!

SP3 3205 not accept my LEGAL! VOL KEY. This KEY work fine with SP2 and SP3 3180 with latest WGA!

... umh! I remenber: this is the same error of the latest SP2 beta build before first RC (accept only beta CONNECT key)

I try to install RETAIL VOL and after SP3 3205, but if is off-topics, ending post.

Thanks.

I got no idea why are you playing with SP3 that's prolly not even public beta or something.

Windows XP Service Pack 3 Beta Build: 2600.xpsp.070831-1912 (Service Pack 3, v.3205) is first "Public Beta Preview" for beta testers only https://login.live.com/login.srf?wa=wsignin...40&id=64416 and i am one of that! Read http://www.softwareheadlines.com/modules/p...icle.php/228355

@ Outbreaker

In my opinion it is better to put .exe files, because on this way files on your CD will be the newest. And when you put the addon, files are not directly replaced. Every addon you put is installed during T13, so this is one more reason to not use it, because Windows installation will last longer.

Cheers newwink.gif

Datalife: As a beta tester, you should know to check the official newsgroups first.. there's a post from microsoft about this very thing in the xp sp3 newsgroup.

Everyone else: Is there a known issue with creating a boot ISO? I did that with XP x64 SP2 corp and burned it using nero, results in "Cannot find NTLDR"..

SP3 should work just fine. I have tested the last two beta versions with all removed and it was errorless aka fine.

But there was an important update for general usage, check the top post.
Da_G
Yah, SP3 slipstreams and works just fine, but VLK keys aren't accepted in the current build.

Any word on the iso boot? I took the folder and put it into nero and made it bootable with a bootsector, worked fine that way. Running on that install now. Getting some odd errors with mmoy's x64 build of firefox though, trying to track that down..

NTLDR and other boot critical files have to be on the first DVD layer and under 4GB boundary.
nuhi
ISO issues are usually because of the bug in the ISO engine regarding folder names.
Try not to add any non-standard folders, like [programs] or like that, it may be the cause.
I did report it to the company which made the engine but they can be slow at times.
Da_G
No big deal on the ISO, I didn't add anything other than using the GUI except Nvidia's latest beta driver, and my si3114 raid drivers in textmode, maybe one of those uses nonstandard folders.

I tracked the errors with firefox x64 down to a missing msvcr80.dll in system32, one of the selections I made must have removed it? My last_session.ini is attached.

If it matters the iso was built on a Windows Server 2008 RC0 system, and burned using nero on the same system. Nero was again used to burn from the folder w/a bootsector and that worked fine.

Lordwarlock: I used a CD-RW, so I don't think that was the issue, but thanks biggrin.gif

I meant folders in the ISO root, not the integrated stuff.

msvcr80.dll is not part of the windows, look for VC80 runtimes, perfectly normal.
Da_G
The root folder is standard, $OEM$, AMD64, and I386..

Yeah, I grabbed the runtime before I posted and it fixed the issue..

Something must've changed with the tweaks I used to cause it not to load from the /Program Files/Firefox Community Edition/ folder, I noticed the dll is there right alongside the app. With a fresh install of XP x64 and a fresh download of it, it will load without any prompts, so i presume it's loading from the same folder as the exe in that case, is there a setting in nLite that would affect this behavior?
