Im thinking of replacing my ti4600 with a 9800SE All-in-wonder card. I just wanted to know if anyone has successfully softmodded the card to perform at 9800np/9800pro speeds. I would buy the 256-bit version with L-shaped samsung ram which is apparantly the one that can be modded.
If modding isnt possible what will the performance difference be over my ti4600?
cheers.

Well im not familiar with the softmodding, I do know that the 9800 performs well above the 4600ti. The core and clock simply out perfor the ti raw. But additionally, the 9800 can handle DX 9 games much better.

I would watch the SE's. They don't perform nearly as well. Ive heard that it's not worth it to go from anything over a 4200 to a 9800SE. 9800 Non Pro is a different story.
You can however go from a 9800 Non Pro to a Pro, or a 9800Pro to an XT. It's very hit or miss with the SE's however, you need to get lucky with the soft modding from a 9800 SE to a 9800 Pro. This is because of the 4 pipes that the SE's have that from my experiences give lots of artifacts if you enable them with the soft modding.
I have an SE that I softmodded to enable the 4 pipes and got only a few artifacts, however speed was increased and benchmarks went up, but I cannot play any games if I have artifacts, no matter how much performance gain I would get.
The different with the Non Pro's is the 8 pipelines which the SE only has 4 and can impact performance while running in with the AA settings.
