Hello people

Looking for some guidance relating to DVD not working in XP

I`m running XP Pro & the DVD is a JLMS DVD Rom ltd 166s (made by jvc)
instructions say liteon

Since XP was loaded every thing works fine except said dvd i`ve been almost everywhere, flashed, reinstalled, added mpeg2 codecs, checked windows help & support nothing has made my player spring to life.

What did bug me was on instructions it only went up to 2000 no mention of XP ?

Surely its the software & not hardware ?

Everything is said to be running correctly according to XP

please please please help b4 insanity sets in permanately

I spent over a year troubleshooting my dvd drive until i finally figured it out.

First, try another OS like win98 to see if it's a software issue.

Second, if you haven't, do a clean install.

Third, in device manager double click on disk controllers, then double click on each ide controller, and click on 'pio mode only' for each controller and reboot. If this works you need to update your bios, or the drive might be on the wrong channel.

Try SP1, update the BIOS, check the HCL.

Try microsoft's site on dvd troubleshooters.

There have been some major changes concerning your DVD drive. It was originally manufactured by Liteon and has been bough by JVC. The original Liteon support site no longer supports your drive. The official support site is now JLMS and the product support site is located at JLMS/Support. Your drive is XP compatiable. The product specs can be found HERE. A active Discussion Forum backed by JVC is located HERE. JVC suggests you use the Windows default driver for your model and has a new firmware upgrade located HERE..

One of the best sites for your drive is locate HERE (diditri). There you will find tons of information about your drive to include firware upgrades that work and others that do not work.

Hope this helps and Welcome to MSFN yes.gif
