Greetings & Thank you for this excellent progam -

I am using nLite for a year now but w/ most basic skills,
wish I knew how to understand to write script and such,
but computers is hobby & not main job.

but, does not even the most experienced computer peoples
start with not understanding things?

Today I integrate sp3 into XP_sp2 build that also have IE_7 & WMP_11 integrated to it,
but upon install, the computer it displays IE_6 & WMP_9 !! Why this ?

also, does sp3 slipstreaming w/ nLite basically delete or overwrite the sp2 components?
i wonder, because my first try, the result come out to 725 MB !!

so, for the veery 1st time, I make selections on the Options/General page,
thinking to try ways to make everything smaller. Trying again, I also elect
to delete more folders during the procedure,
this time come out to 450 MB !!

Thank you much for your helping !

YOU DO SP3 FIRST!!!

Always do the service packs first and always start with a clean source...

Then go in and remove the usual folders. ( http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/57/ )

Then go ahead and add the addons, wmp11 and 1e7.

Thank you for response -
i did those removals the 2nd time through, upon reading that very guide you mention !
very nice to understand what is unnecessary to keep,
what can be thrown away !

now my source .iso already have IE_7 & WMP_11 in it,
so how can SP3 come 1st ? wacko.gif

or, after i extract source .iso to workshop folder,
do i need remove things before starting project ?
thnks again for all helps ...

Using nLite you should always start with a clean source, so you will need to use your original installation disc and not an already altered source.

ok, so if i go back to microsoft original "genuine xp" disc w/ sp2, ie6, wmp 9?,
does slipstreaming the newer prog. versions overwrite the older ones automagically,
or does that need done mechanically? thank you .

so basically u should do like this

1. copy fresh source to your hdd
2. slipstream sp3
3. integrate ie7 and wmp11
4. other stuff with nlite.

u can do this in just one row.

and yes if u use this steps ....newer prgrams will overwrite older ones.

however,I might be doing it wrong or missing some step, but when followed the space saving guide posted in the link ( http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/57/ ) and removed the unnecessary folders,I got BSOD,tried it twice with same results, maybe, some files in any folder are required, which I don't know.looking for your advise rolleyes.gif

BTW, I'm using WinXP Pro SP2 Integrated 'Source'!

Thanks All.

Have a nice day
