I have tried to install xp on vista, and first because I didin't have SATA drive for xp my laptop crash, then raid could not be done because its only ask for floppy disc which my lpatop don't have so I have read about Nlite software, I have created new CD with SATA drives using Nlite but when I try to boot from CD that was made by Nlite it would't start and it skip cd and start windows from HDD when I have insert original XP cd then its boot from cd, I have looked on Nlite cd and normal and nothing change except thtat there are two extra files in nlite version one is Last sesion.ini and second one is last sesion_u.ini, as well the size have dicrease from 473 MB to 470MB.

OK, please post your last_session.ini (as an attachment) and also the make of your laptop..

OK 3 quick questions:

Did your drivers package have the file txtsetup.oem?

If yes did you select textmode drivers?

How did you burn your CD?

Edit where did you get the drivers I can't find any for your specific laptop? Is there an option in bios so that the SATA drives are seen as IDE srives?

I as well had problem with finding drivers for my laptop, and the one i have use was package for chpist that include sata support its R114079.EXE from dell website, wchich didin't include txtsetup.oem, another probloem is that Dell have disable some of the features to modifie Bios so I can't disable sata support, first I try to burn my cd by creating Iso drive but it was problem I have used 2 softwares to burn Iso and both were unable do complete it, it was burining 1h and after it finish empty cd came out, then I simply copy all the modified files and burn them on to cd

And what bootsector for the CD did you use?

If you "simply" copied all the modified files, you "simply" made a NON-bootable CD, which of course makes it highly improbable that will be ever capable of boot anything.

WHICH software did you try (unsuccessfully) to burn the .iso image?

WHICH software do you have (and used to burn just the files)?

Please try burning the .iso file made by nlite (NOT it's contents) with this Freeware app:

Ok couple of problems then.

#1 You have to have the txtsetup.oem file for it to work.

#2 nLite has a built in burning engine just use it. The disk has to be specially prepared you can't just copy the files and expect that to work...

What is your service tag #?? It is on the bottom of your laptop.

I have created iso file using nlite but it was unable to burn it on burning software or do i have to use nlite, my tag is 40BKx2J, and I'm still unable to find drives for sata

I can't find one either. The only alternatives are to call Dell (Good luck getting them to help) or using Bashrats masstorage driver pack and hoping against all hope one of them works.

I'll try using Bashrats or I'll look on Samsung website if they have drives available for their models, I'll send email to Dell as well if they can send me drives
