my laptop is running mce 2005 and i've disabled the mce components for daw purposes. in case some of you don't know, xp mce has some issues with audio recording interfaces. my audio interface was useless until i disabled the mce components (works fine now). i would like to create a bootable xp install cd and leave out the mce components. i have used nlite with xp pro and home oem disks but never with mce and never with recovery disks. my laptop is a hp dv6000 series. any help with this would be very appreciated.

some reasons why i want a bootable disk: reinstalling xp with the recovery disks (2 dvds) is very time consuming and a lot of junk software is installed in the process. i would like to try creating a nlited disk to optimize system resources.

woo, hoo. i got a working xp install iso from the files that were already on my hard drive. a big thumbs up for nlite. shed the mce, the preinstalled software, etc., just using nlite and files from my mce install.
