I'm able to run VB6 apps in WinPE 2005 x86 no problem by adding the required DLL's to the System32 folder. I can't seem to make the VB6 application run in the x64 version of WinPE.
Is there any trick to this or is it even possible?

Try registering them with the regsvr32 command and see what happens.

64Bit doesn't support 32 bit files like a vb6 application. Therefore you are getting errors.
I don't know of any other solution to this but to migrate to something else. VBscript maybe or autoit.
If you need to do something hreavy I have had to got to C++
