hello,
i am a neophyte at this so, please bear with me?
two weeks ago i downloaded apple quicktime player - an accident.
today i went to delete the program (search>all files>apple quicktime) and came up with 17 results. i left clicked on a couple of them and they had nothing to do with the apple download.
could this "quicktime" be a program that came with my pc when i bought it?
thank you.

That is not how you delete programs off your computer.
Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
Or if on Vista:
Control Panel > Programs and Features
Simply deleting the program folder or doing a search and deleting files is NOT uninstalling them correctly. I can go into detail, but its best to Use Add/Remove Programs.

dear seven alive,
if the program had been in add/remove i would have used that option.
since it wasn't, i had to look for it. hence the search. but thank you for the reminder...
can you respond to the question anyway?

If you want to remove quicktime and it's not listed in add/remove under apple quicktime or quicktime.
Then look in:
C:\program files\quicktime
or
c:\program files\apple quicktime
If neither of those folders are there, then quicktime is not installed.
If one of those folders are there, then simply deleting the folder is not going to get rid of it, and it will cause some issues because things are still left on your system. You will need a registry cleaner, regseeker or ccleaner will work fine.
Check and delete the following folders:
C:\program files\quicktime
c:\program files\apple quicktime
c:\program files\common files\apple (quicktime)
c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\apple (quicktime)
c:\documents and settings\YOUR-USERNAME\application data\apple (quicktime)
Start menu > Apple software Update
Start menu > quicktime
Try to delete those files then run a registry cleaner to remove the traces of the programs.
But do note: Quicktime is required with iTunes if you got an ipod.
You say you downloaded it, i am assuming you also ran the installer and installed it. Simply downloading a file does not install it, you do have to run it.
