Ok, I was reading the articel (link above), it's in german, so I'm gona translate it real quick: pretty much what they say is that you can mod an athlon 1700+ to 2400+ with thorton core to perform equally toan athlon xp 3200+. To do this you must 1st overclock the cpu, and 2nd connect a bridge on the cpu. By connecting the bridge on the cpu they say the locked cache registers get activated, and the athlon xp will have 512kb l2 cache instead of 256kb. My question is what would I use to connect the pins on the cpu. See the pic below

You can find information on Toms Hardware http://www.tomshardware.com There is a pit there that if you just bridge the two, it will short it out. You have to follow a process to fill in the pit and then bridge the points.

they guide they write in the german article sux. They don't explain anything. Here's what you have to do: Use CPU-Z or another program to make sure you have a thorton core chip, then on the chip, connect the two little pins as shown in the picture of my first post. This should then unlock the extra L2 cache registers. That's really all I can tell you, and the article doesn't say more either.

You should read this, this is very important if your CPU looks like this one here.

To close the bridges use "Quick Grid" by Permatex.
It is an automotive, rear window defogger repair kit.
Available at most NAPA stores. About $12.00

be carefull. the pit you have to fill in has contacts in it i believe. if you just try to fill the gap using something conductive like the permatex pen (very good suggestion Sunny!) then you may blow your cpu, or just end up having no effect at all and getting frustrated.

i know on some chips you have to fill the gap first with something non conductive, the best bet is silicon sealant as it can easily be removed. some sites suggest using superglue... i wouldnt recommend it, if its gets anywhere it shouldnt you are in for a pain of a time getting it off without causing damage, you might even glue your Cpu to your head and then you would look stupid...

again.. this might not apply to all cpus with these laser etched pits, but it does some, look into the process fully before attempting anything, and dont forget you need a cooler upto the job of cooling your overclocked cpu! if its only rated for your current cpu and below buy another one thats rated for WELL ABOVE the speed you are intending to clock at.

thx for all the help guys. I'm probably gona try doing it, but I have to wait a little bit till i have enough money to buy a replacement chip if something goes wrong, or else I'm screwed.

My cpu is running @ 54 degree C right now, so I got a little room for overclocking.
