Would it be possible to add another subforum under "Other Member Contributed Projects", with the name "other projects" or such?

Because lots of members seem to be willing to contribute small utilities now and then, and I think this would be a great place for those.

Right now, either they quickly get buried under a lot of posts, or they get stickied in a not-so-related forum (like my Screen Saver Powertoy in the Vista forum), besides, I don't think it gets quite enough interest to be stickied there... And the other place projects seem to end up, is in the "code repository" thread in the programming forum -- a thread no one reads, and where no one will post to ask questions/bring up issues with your program and such.

I was thinking about sharing my FixPE app (a modifype.exe replacement, as modifype has some issues -- open source too), but right now I'm not even sure where I'd post it... It's a handy tool, but I wouldn't want it stickied in a popular forum, nor buried deep in the code repository thread, nor do I believe I "deserve" my own forum like jcarle (not for a couple of little apps)

Thanks! smile.gif

I personally don't see too much trouble with this. The only snag that I might be able to see is that people might start using MSFN as a launch base, only to move their project onto their own forums later (this has unfortunately happened before).

We'll discuss the matter and get back to you. smile.gif

Indeed. I can see some people moving projects as they get more popular to dedicated/specialized forums, so perhaps this isn't the ideal place for just everything... It's unfortunate it happens, and very little can be done about that I guess. I can't say I'm a big fan of having tons of tiny forums for every little thing myself (and I have no intentions of having to maintain a site for these laugh.gif ). I like big communities with many active posters. It's much like blogs, there's several new blogs created every second, most of which only have the google crawler as a reader...
