Hi all,
my laptop monitor has gone; i need advice about the damage before buying spare parts http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spare_Parts .
I can see a sort of shadow at power on; than, as the machine gets hot there are several vertical colored lines; the colours are related to what is display on the screen. The external vga is ok and, as i can see, i'm able to turn on and off the lcd's lamp (so i would exclude that lcd inverter is off).
I've tried to remove and change the rma modules, but nothing changes.
I think that the video cable could be broken.
Here you can see some screenshots:

Any advice?
Thank you for your attention.

Yes it is, or the contact strip on top of the screen has come loose, that would be more common. The only thing you can do is to buy a new/other LCD/TFT screen.

Welcome to the board by the way newwink.gif.

Those connectors are usually fastened by tapes and are not moving parts.I've never seen one loose (I've seen bad contacts on the VGA bord end). But if it is, why not try to verrify it? Acer screens are quite easy to open.

Yes they are glued indeed. You canīt glue them again so this is why I said that you need to swap the screen for another one.

They are not, they are fastened by a tape. A standard, removable, replaceable bit of tape like you have in your drawer.

Well, suite yourself. All screens that I opened had them glued; no way can a tape be that exact placed so the contact strip touches all those contacts on the glass layer (layer of liquid crystal substance) exactly...
