Just stay away from Uniblue products. I use CCleaner because it's free, and RegCleaner by Jouni Vuorio (no longer developed but still good) to clean up what CCleaner missed.

Downloaded a trial version of Tuneup Utilities 2008, and found it extremely good compare to CCleaner. CCleaner is by far the best free registry cleaner, but Tuneup Utilities 2008 scans the registry more thoroughly. Only if it was a freeware, then this would be the best.
For best freeware registry cleaner my vote goes CCleaner
For best non-freeware registry cleaner my vote goes to Tuneup Utilities 2008

Just use Windows disk cleaner or/and Defragmenter, always safe.

I voted other, as in none ... I've yet to see any automated Registry "Cleaner" that didn't end up breaking something. It's never something obvious, but it's always something ... something that bites you in the a** somewhere down the road.

Yet another vote for CCleaner. Not so much for the registry cleaning as much as getting rid of junk/temp files. I'd have voted for "none" if the option was there.

Right, it sure won't mess with your registry.
Anybody cares to actually compare more products rather than just voting for the one he/she uses ?

I couldn't say what the best is but I love CCleaner, and it's free! Also it is setup perfectly for the average user, Simple GUI, Automatically backs-up your changes, and it doesnt dig too far!
I also like Registry Bot, although I got it so long ago I don't even know if they still make or support it, I find it occasionally grabs WAY too many keys and that on rare occasion, usually when you can't afford trouble, it causes just that....
And that one isnt even in the poll.... So who knows

I use CCleaner frequently and TuneUp occasionally.
CCleaner cleans major ones but TuneUp doesit deeply.
Love CCleaner though and voted for it.
