Hard to believe, but true.

German-nlite.de was set to "Read-only" by (the last) Admin.
All other Admin & SuperMods (!) have left the Forum disappointed...

Due to our german users and the great effort of nlite (again thx@nuhi) i can´t let go.

We`ll soon be back: german-nlite.org

Good news. Ahh, that was the domain people where talking about.... It's a shame the forum was set to read-only, paying a little disrespect to the other users who contributed as well. Nichts gegen die Mods, die sind nicht gemeint.

It´s not disrespectful.
It´s simply complying to german laws.
Since the wellknown "heise-verdict", you have to have admins and mods to check the posts.
´cause the boardowner is held responsible for the content.
So with the whole team gone (except sereby), there was no other way, but setting the forum to "read-only".

Yes Agi, that's right, didn't think of it - there must be someone to moderate the forum all the time.

why is that?

Under certain circumstances, some courts ruled, that the site owner can be held responsible for things other people write in the sites forum (defamation, libel etc.).

In germany everything is illegal, unless specified otherwise by laws or regulations.
Just kidding !

It´s even worse then humfri stated :
The court in hamburg ruled, that the boardowner is held directly responsible, if sombody posts insults or warez.
The judge said :
Actually the posts have to be checked BEFORE they are published !
The boardowner was sentenced, even though he removed the insulting post the next morning at 10:00 a.m. (it was written about 04:00 a.m.).
That´s why several fora have nightblocks and wordfilters now.

But it´s not on me to decide and g-force registered the new domain already. (see sig)
Since he is with T-com (as far as I remember), I think, the new forum will be up and running pretty soon.
The only problem will be, to notify the 86713 members about the change.
(btw. the record was about 1300 members online the same time)

I remember, it was 1870 members - in january 2008

That does sound like, as I assumed before, that the old forum won't be up again soon / ever. Like Thomas the admin said: "Good bye... etc."

I´m also very sad!
I have took a look in this forum nearly every day.......
and learned always anything!!

I hope g-force´s new website will be soon online and look forward to meet many of the members
of the old forum!...especially the Mods, who made a fantastic work there!

holy crap that's a lot of users!

That's the worst crap i've read all year i think. So if someone stands in my garden and screams racists to people walking by, i am responsible for him since its my garden?
So by the same principle if i were to come to his garden and set his house on fire, that would be his responsibility?

I decided to raise www.german-nlite.org exactly 2 weeks ago, when i got up from bed about 11 p.m.

I went online with nothing than a brandnew, empty board at 8 a.m.

Today member No. 500 has written post No. 2500 ...
