I was playing with boot screens. In the process somehow I manage to lose boot.ini in dual boot XP Pro SP3/ VISTA Ultimate system. XP is installed in the primary partition, and Vista in the extended partition. What can I do at this point? I am afraid to shut down my PC, 'cos I have had enough with reinstalling XP & Vista.

u may find boot.bak there rename it to ini and reboot

its should work

In a dual boot Vista/XP normally the Vista BOOTMGR is called, which access the BCD, which accesses the NTLDR+BOOT.INI.

If the BCD is OK, you can recreate a BOOT.INI fromm scratch, read here:
