Hi all

Vista has been running fine for ages without any problems, last night when I turned it on I started to get issues.

For example, when you login normally, you get a red x over the networking icon on the bottom bar, also, if you try and go into such areas as "networking and sharing center" it freezes up that panel and you have to try several times to close the box.

I can still get online though.

If I try and run any software which requires the vista confirm box (the centered box that darkens everything around it) to be clicked before it will install or launch, then nothing seems to happen at all.

I have done not recent updates or changes to the system.

If I run it in safe mode, then I can open "networking and sharing center" without a problem and some software will also launch, though as im in safe mode, not much will run or install.

Can anyone please help?

Thanks

Mark

One thing which strikes me is that anything with the shield icon over it wont run

Almost sounds like an LSP on the system is malfunctioning (did your antivirus vendor or 3rd party firewall software update recently? Those are the usual suspects).
