Is it possible to use a USB drive instead of burning a DVD to install vlite with vista?

I used this guide

plug your usb key and go to disk management to check its number then do the following command in cmd

select disk (number)
clean
create partition primary
select partition 1
active
format fs = fat32
assign
exit

Let me make sure I understand:

1) format USB drive properly
2) copy vista DVD to USB drive
3) run vlite on setup files on USB drive
4) load OS from USB drive

Does this really work? Has anyone else done it?

This would be better unsure.gif:
1) Copy Vista DVD to local hard disk
2) run vlite on the copy of the Vista DVD (source)
3) partition and format the USB drive properly
4) copy the output of vlite (reduced setup files) to USB drive
5) load OS setup files from USB drive

The above is about installing a reduced (vlited) Vista from a USB device, and it can be automated partially following this:

or are you asking about installing a reduced (vlited) Vista to a USB device? unsure.gif
if the latter is the case, check Dietmar's Tutorials:
