I said in response to someone on this thread that I would start posting a few random drivers or apps for DOS, but it would be a good opportunity for anyone to share (or even give experiences on them). The main thing, I guess would be to figure out what would be worth sharing.

I'll start by posting what I put in the other thread, and will be adding more in the coming days, along with descriptions. Of course, if there's any objections to what is being posted for warez or other reasons (newer more complete versions perhaps?), I can always pull the files from my posts. Or if there is a need for any documentation on how to load any of these, by all means ask.

AOATAPI - the AOpen CD-ROM driver, supports UDMA
CTMOUSE - an alternative mouse driver.
SHARE - the Datalight file sharing driver.
SHCDX33A - a MSCDEX replacement ver 33a.
SHCDX33C - ver 33c of a MSCDEX replacement.
UIDEXMGR - UIDE and XMGR.
UMBPCI - a UMB memory provider.
XMSDSK - I found the full package, see below:

More files I have of the category of USB drivers. YMMV, and I don't know the exact functions of some of these or whether they would work (much of my testing on these drivers were limited for lack of documentation). Please enlighten me on any particular application for these - I'm sure I'll get my original questions out on these files when I reference them and whether they are worth keeping for whatever reason.

IOMEGA-USB - some random USB drivers put out by Iomega. Also a 1394 firewire driver in this package.
Cypress-USB - the Cypress DOS USB drivers.
Motto-Hairu - the access drivers for USB (DI1000DD). Includes RAMFD.SYS, I guess related to USB floppy drives?
Ninja-USB - I don't know where I got these drivers, but one of them has the string "NinjaUSB ASPI CD-ROM Driver (ATAPI) Ver 3.09 Copyright©2000 Workbit Corporation.", so I'm guessing these are USB drivers as well.
PanasonicUSB - varying versions of the Panasonic USB drivers. Also has a USB CD driver in there.
SBP1394 - I guess this is a IEEE1394 Firewire driver that came with the Sound Blaster Pro?
OHCIUHCI- I don't know where I got these either, but I did figure out they were USB 1.1 drivers.

When I was trying to sort out the different versions I was finding, I renamed them with a letter on the end and changed the CONFIG.SYS to check them on my test boot disk. I ended up storing them in the same directory as well, so I left the names alone. Those three files are differing versions of the same thing (USBASPI.SYS).

More stuff out of my collection (Category: General Odds and Ends). Again, I don't know the results of any of this on your system so YMMV.

SLOWDOS - a software driver to slow down games.
THROTTLE - a hardware driver to throttle back the CPU. If the chipset is supported it's the same equivalent as the old turbo button. Again useful for slowing down games.

FU_RD19I - a RAMDISK driver set. This is the package that includes XMSDSK.EXE, which I posted earlier.
SRDSK209C - another RAMDISK package.

WAIT - a wait for keypress driver, returns an error level corresponding to the key pressed.
TM - changes the textmode and keyboard repeat rate at the command-prompt.
WRITEXT - writes text at a specified position on screen in a specified color.
ZENO - a driver for faster screen writes.

ATX_SHUTDOWN - does the ATX shutdown or restart at the DOS prompt. Check the batch files first before you use them.

PERUSE - a driver which gives scrollback capability for the command prompt. After you load it, Hit "Scroll Lock" to use, and hit it again when you are done using it.
MOUSCLIP - Clipboard capability for DOS. Invoke with /H for usage instructions.
ESCAPE - press F12 to exit any program. Use with caution.

DRVINFO - a "Is Drive Ready?" util. Also has a drive types lister.

Here 3 DOS programs which I still use occasionally under Win98, in a full-sized DOS window, on a 700-MHz laptop:

- DCF 5.3 (=Disk Copy Fast) for archiving old floppies as dcf images, which can later on be handled with Winimage under Win98. doesn't need to be slowed down.
- VGA-Copy-pro 5.30, works fine with SlowDown, for reading/copying weak floppies (99 retries)
- DiskDupe v4.07 for cleaning a floppy head with a special cleaning floppy, needs SlowDown

I am looking for CardWizard for Windows 3.1 release 5.30.10 and for CardSoft for DOS release 5.30.10, both by SystemSoft.

These are DOS 6 drivers for 32-bit CardBus card controllers in a laptop. They were the successors to CardWizard95, which was a DOS 6 driver for 16-bit PCMCIA card controllers used in laptops until 1997.

With any of these drivers I would be able, under DOS 6, to use old SCSI devices with my CardBus laptop, via a 16-bit SCSI PCMCIA card.

Norton Ghost 7.5, for fast image backups (commercial)

OptiPNG is a great little utility that losslessly recompresses PNG images (or converts GIF and BMP images to PNG).
