First, I tried searching the forum using + acrobat + 6 + vista as instructed. I got errors with and without the plusses.

I used Adobe Acrobat Pro 6.0 under XP. My new PC has Vista Home Edition (basic version) and my Acrobat will install, but will not start normally. I can get it running by using it to open a PDF file, but when open, it won't perform a conversion from Word to PDF. There is some indication that the problem is in my printer drivers, but I'm not sure about this.

Has anyone had the particular problem and was it fixable other than buying newer software?

Compatibility mode *might* work. Also, you can try "printing" to a .ps file, then transforming the postscript into a PDF with distiller.

But it's from early 2003, and Adobe won't fix their old driver code for Vista, they'll sell you an upgrade instead (it's supported as of v8.1). Alternatively, there's other apps that can generate PDF files for free, or commercial ones that go for a LOT cheaper than Acrobat (e.g. pdfFactory)

Thank you for the reply. Most of that I suppose I either knew or suspected. I tried a number of the free conversion sites and a freind sent me a link to one that does conver the hyperlinks in my document. The rest of the free ones that I tried just wouldn't convert the hyperlinks. Now, I have problems with my IE 7 under Vista. The hypelinks won't open the WEB pages in IE 7 for some reason. And, the IE 7 keeps hanging up on me. I don't want to use IE 8 because my Billeo password keeper won't work under that version.

Sorry, I'm of no help when it comes to IE, as I don't ever use it (except for a few seconds now and then to make sure sites/apps render OK in it). Most browsers already have a "password safe" feature built-in though (IE, Firefox, Opera, etc -- they all do).
