Hello fellow Techies...
I have a customer that has a Mixed workd (WinXP with AD \ WinnT40). Basically the customer wants to move NT40 WKS from NT40 Domains to Win2K AD. I'd like some help from the cummunity ub writing up REASONS why this is a BAD idea.

So far I have the following,
-AD Policies
-User Policies
-Security
-Secure channel

Any other reasons you could give would help!.. Thanks to all

Still using NT4 hey, bit like my school, has NT server and XP machines - my god, what a mess!

What you mentioned can be pretty much sumed up in one go, 2K is a big change, Active Directory is a secure, effective, modernised approach to administration, it is a big move, and unlike 2000 to 2003, NT 4 has no real "shared" components to enable a smooth transition from one to the next.

Even if you could transfer the settings, this would only transfer the existing settings, and would probably not adopt some of the newer features of 2K.

I am no expert of servers, and have vowed, and so far managed never to install or run NT4.
The way i see it, NT4 is old and unviable, and if this is to be a worth while upgrade, just create fresh entries in Active Directory and avoid the issues mentioned and probably many more!
