Included with my new mainboard, a floppydisk with SATA drivers was provided for SATA HD's. Now in the Windows Xp setup screen, when I press F6 it asks me for a disk with SATA drivers. And only when I insert the SATA disk, Windows XP is able to recognise my HD. My question is, how do I integrate the SATA drivers in a XPCREATE CD, so when I install WinXP it won't have to ask me for SATA drivers.

Any help would me much appreciated.

Or to make your life easier, just downoad the package in my signature and follow the directions in the readme.

The easiest way is probably the file in my sig, like I said before.

There's a pinned thread about it in the Drivers forum as well. Look for the one started by me.

Zip and mail me your drivers. I will try to add them to the list of drivers XPCREATE can integrate. Then you should be able to add them into an XPCREATE CD as the other SATA.RAID drivers - there is a page about this: http://greenmachine.msfnhosting.com/XPCREATE/raid.htm. The link from RyanVM will tell you how to do this yourself. Or, as already stated, use RyanVM's SATA Pack.

Still ... I would like a copy of your drivers ...

My drivers are already listed in your xpcreate.cab, except that these ones are updated to version 5.1.2600.220 I believe.

I'm talking bout these drivers:

VIA ATA/ATAPI Host Controller" - 5.1.2600.104, 10/30/2003
"VIA RAID Controller" - 5.1.2600.210, 10/17/2003
"VIA Serial ATA RAID Controller - 5.1.2600.220, 10/17/2003

GM, I think you need to download a newer version of my pack. I noticed too that your xpcreate.cab is a bit outdated.

That is what I was starting to think as well. What's the point in lewtting you do all the work, if I can't keep up on my end?

However, I think I see a RyanVM -> XPCREATE.CAB parser in the calling. I hate doing the same tasks twice.

On a side note, I did try adding as many SATA drivers as I could. Works fine virtually, but as soon as I try in my box with a 3112 DataLink card ... BSOD. Conflict somewhere, and it sure seems hardware dependent.

So after I applied the patch.cmd from the raiddrivers pack, do I then need to cut the $OEM$ thats now inmy windows xp root folder and paste it in the FILESCD folder in xpcreate?

I'll take a look into it. It's possible I need to add some PnPIDs.

Can anybody tell me what is the difference between a Windows XP Professional Retail & Windows XP Professional OEM?

One costs more than the other . Seriously, cost is the only difference. And as is the case for most if not all OEM software, it must be bought with hardware (of course, many online resellers use very liberal definitions of "hardware" to sell it by packaging it with a $0.05 screw or something).

After all that back and forth nobody offered to send us a copy of the Deskstar SATA drivers. I am stuck with the XP default drivers. You could send them to AusPup@charter.net if you wanted to be a real nice person.
