I have SAMSUNG 52X CD-Rom Drive.

Sometimes, when I try to eject it, the CD tray doesn't come out and the computer gets hanged.

What could be the problem.
I have checked all the wires, they seem to be alright.

are you sure that theres no program using it, like when a burn crashes for me, my drive will never open cuz its busy, and computer crashes.... and the disk is a gonner

but why does the com hangs.?
Doggie
have you tried it in another machine?
is it a slave to the master drive or secondary master?
cancer10
well I am not aware of those masters and slaves. Please guide me
Doggie
well when your computer turns on, it usually displays a list checking your hdd(s) and cd/dvd drives.. it should say what hardware you have and its role eg
Primary master: HDDName/CD/DVD
Primary slave: HDDName/CD/DVD
Secondary master: HDDName/CD/DVD
Secondary slave: HDDName/CD/DVD

write down what you have
MCT
an easier way maybe to download aida or belarc ,im sure they'd tell u smile.gif both are free
cuz it displays kinda fast during dos tongue.gif

Try using the eject command (Go to my computer, right click on the drive, choose "eject") in windows instead of the button on the drive, or vice versa.

If you had a 56x ROM, I'd say you'd better use a 52x one.

But since you have 52x already, I'd say it's a frequent problem on Win98 and Win98SE.

But, if you have WinXP, then this problem is related to some other software, as said by sven.

I'm sure this problem does not occur on a newly installed WinXP. But if it does, then your ROM is partially corrupted and needs a repair. Particularily, it's the rubber band.

Thank you all for your support

Does it still crash even if you forcibly eject the CD-tray (by poking a pin into the emergency eject hole) ?
