If i wanted to smell Cigerrettes smoke i'd put my nose in an ashtray. I've delt with my dad smoking infront of me for the past 10 years and the past 10 years its been my dad and sister smoking. 20 years, all my life, i've delt with people smoking around me. my lungs are probably blacker then a smokers lungs... by middle school i was getting ashma attacks from being around ciggerrete smoke all my life. So frankly i think that all public places everywhere in the US at least anyone smoking has to stand away from non smokers since your basically killing us with second-hand smoke.

Its like something i saw on the internet before...
I enjoy sex more then you enjoy smoking but you don't see me screwin in your office (or something like that lol)

For all you smokers out there.. http://www.thetruth.com/ Check it out sometime.

The least you smokers can do is go kill yourself how you want and go smoke outside away from non smokers. And let me kill myself how i want to lol.
rotjong
And while the non-smoking zealots have fun... they should think about the people passing the non-smoking laws. It isn't just about your health. Don't actually believe a politician cares about that. It's about money, folks.

Smoking while it has been proven "dangerous" is still legal. Why? Money. If the US government made the sale of cigarettes illegal as well as growing it... well, the US economy would collapse. So, instead, they slowly confine smokers to a smaller and smaller area that they can actually smoke.

Look at the NY law with no smoking in restaurants and bars. This law is total BS. Although legally I understand that bars are stuck in the crossfire of the eating establishment aspect of this it is wrong. The owner of an establishment should have the choice to operate a smoking or non-smoking establishment. If a person disagrees with the owners choice then too **** bad.

I actually listened to an asthmatic bartender whine to me one night about smoking. Does anyone see the absolute absurdity of that statement? Working as a bartender has always meant with dealing with smoke. If you can't deal with smoke then do not work as a bartender. That's life.

Slowly smoking is being limited. Don't let people smoke in the work place. Don't let people smoke in bars or restaurants. Don't let people smoke in public places. Yet still sell the cigarettes. Hmmm...

If smoking is so bad then it should be outlawed, period. Don't remove the freedom but still sell cigarettes.

Think about it. No one cares about your health. It's all about money.

PS: I happen to be allergic to cigarette smoke.
XtremeMaC
I strongly agree with army20!!!
I hate the smokers, go find another joy for yourselves.

most ppl who smoke smell like s***! when they smoke its smoke bothers me very much!

QUOTE
PS: I happen to be allergic to cigarette smoke.

yea me too, i start scratching and i go wierd..

I frankly like USA's reactions on this issue, cigarrette and tobacco should be banned from the world!

go chew a gum or chew a toothpick like red kit. do something else, i don't do anything at all, just find something that u can enjoy.

ppl here are like this, say u've 5 hard questions, after 1 finishes they go like "oh my i've to smoke a cigarrette" wtf? why? quit that habit!

yes i do understand the social side of it, light a girls cigarrette, though i think women don't go along with cigarrete, at least i don't find them attractive that much...

and when u're in a place where ppl smoke all that smell stays on your clothes, sad.gif sad.gif i hate it!

back in university ppl smoked weed as well, i hate that too, the odor of it was so dense i could smell it from my room, opened the window, **** it more smoke coming in!

corrupt!
SiMoNsAyS
i personally don't smoke but 60% of people around me do it. i don't care if they smoke, the decission is not mine and laws don't prevent it (as in other countries with public sites). my argue: let people choice newwink.gif
ravashaak
Smoked for over 13 years myself. I quit about 4.5 years ago. I've seen the game from both sides of the field and I have to say that I hate people smoking around me. It's just nasty. It smells bad and can sometimes make it difficult to breathe. I don't mind people smoking outside. To each his/her own as far as that goes.

I don't smoke and never will. I also have have friends that smoke. However, they realize that smoking can p*** off other people, and if I ever kindly ask them to smoke elsewhere, they don't mind moving to somewhere else. People should have the freedom to smoke if they choose to, but if they are smoking around other people, they are automatically harming the rights and freedom of others. Sure, smokers can smoke for themsevles, but as soon as that crap gets into OUR lungs, it's a problem,
XPero
I smoke, I like it, I feel good...although I know it is bad for health. I'm not in favour of smoking, but of freedom of choice.

Non smoker. Never have, never will. When dating my first girlfriend, a few weeks after we started dating she started to smoke (again she said) and well.. It's not pleasant to kiss someone who smokes. Frankly, it's disgusting. About the same as frenching/making out with an ashtray. I don't hate smokers, I voted no in this poll. It's the habit that's the problem. Kick the habit and save a ton of money. :D

PHEW!
Happy to see that most of you don't like smoking. I don't smoke either, since its like investing in your own death (pay money and court death - losing money for nothing so that you can pay more money in future towards curing yourself laugh.gif ). Whatever else had to be said is already been said before me.

amen to that bro! When my girlfriend and I first met she only smoked like 1 cigerette every 2 weeks, or only when she was stressed out. so i would never have a problem with that (long distance relationship so never had to smell it either lol) now that we broke up and she got back with her ex shes a constant smoker.. about a pack a week. Still not bad but i know its just gonna get worse its the same all my friends that smoked started.. 1 ciggerret a day then 2 then 3 next thing you know its 2 packs a day.

I have tried a cigerrete though when i was 6 if thats not the tobacco company getting to young kids i don't know what is. hated it then, hate it now and never will smoke.

but frankly, no matter how pretty a female is, i see her pull out a cigerrete its a HUGE turn off.

who got u to smoke? xterminate that person biggrin.gif

I grew up in the days of the Marlboro Man and my parents and their friends smoked. At least twenty cumulative years of smoking. Half of it one pack a day, the other 2 packs a day. Started when I was about 11 years old at 1 or 2 a day. Quit at 15 and started again at 21. Smoking is bad for you, it's a nasty habit, it makes everything smell, even I can taste it on someone I kiss and I don't like it even though I smoke, I don't like second hand smoke drifting into my face, I don't like the smell of a dirty ashtray, etc..... I also don't like some snot getting in my face and talking at me about my smoking when it isn't bothering them at all or they get in my airspace. I smoke outside, because I don't think anyone should have to breath my smoke also. I have friends who don't smoke and know I am a heavy smoker and if we are in their vehicle (some of them anyway) they have given me permision to smoke in their car, which I don't do. I figure it's going to make their car, clothes and bodies smell and someday, I might not smoke and I don't think I will want someone smoking in my car.

Smoking costs. Yeah, it's about money alright. Do the math on cost of smokes, taxes, 'cost of smokers' to public and private healthcare and the taxes come out way on top by a long shot. I wonder where the extra money is going? If we are going to tax smoking because of health costs, then let's have a 'fat tax' to cover those health costs (in the USA, it is very costly). But I guess that wouldn't be politically correct.

If you don't smoke now and start in the future, someone ought to smack you around. It is stupid. But like XPero, I like smoking.
Doggie
i dont smoke but i dont care if others do, its their choice
sven
i dont smoke, and i really dislike the smell. its jsut another problem for teens. i was walking home from school, and another girl my age was smoking on her way to school. something has to be done about it. even some of the public french school is quebec have designated spaces to smoke!!! you guys should see all the people smoking at the hockey arena here, they all pack into there and start smoking. quite disctusting if you ask me.
ChunkDog
I smoke, and have smoked for about 10 years now. I also smoke bud, and have smoked that for just as long. They have both destroyed my lungs and I plan on quiting smoking cigarettes. As for bud, that actually does something for me, unlike cigarettes.

And just for you people that just dont know, yes they are very addicting, and have heard it is harder to quit cigarettes than any other addiction known to man. So just remember when you get irritated about someone smoking around you, they might be very addicted and dont have a choice if they want to smoke or not, just like you dont have a choice about paying taxes.

i use to smoke but quit two years and counting cool.gif

however, i do cheat and smoke sheesha (cheesha) / hookah on the occasion

I smoked for about 25 years, then I just stopped a year ago.

Now i cant believe it when I smell people who smoke or if Ive been out in bars when I get home I need to take a shower and throw my clothes straight in the washer the smell is disgusting. I also dont like people smoking near me anymore but I dont create I just put up with it - nothing worse than a rehabilitated smoker who starts preaching - lol!! I dont allow people to smoke in my house either, even when I did smoke that wasnt allowed even by myself!

Very sorry to hear that. I tried smoking when I was 14 (5 years ago) and quit before it got out of hand. I don't hate people who smoke, I hate that they smoke. I can't stand the smell of it. If I walk by someone smoking, I hold my breath until I'm passed them a little ways. I find it repulsive and unattractive. I can't begin to comprehend how a non-smoker could possibly enjoy kissing a smoker. I had a fling with a girl a few years ago who smoked. She invited me over and down into her basement. I went to kiss her and could smell it on her breath and barely gave her an actual kiss (didn't even open my mouth) and asked her if she thought I was a good kisser. I knew she wasn't being truthful when she said "You're pretty good". I just wanted to see what she'd say, lol. How disgusting...
I'm proud of all of you who don't!
VanHammersly1
I'd just like to say that I'm involved with a group who is fighting to ban the sale of any cooked food in public places. We would appreciate your support. Under our proposed ban, only raw vegetables will be allowed to be served in any public venues.

You see, when food is cooked most of the same carcinogens that are in cigarette smoke are released into the atmosphere, and at a much higher rate than burning cigarettes. This is a public health hazard and service industry workers need to be protected.

Along with this, the smell of many cooked meats and foods are repulsive. Have you ever had to sit next to somoene in a restaurant that orders fish? The smell of fish makes me gag, and when I leave the restaurant, my clothes reek of fish all night and it makes me sick. Also, if somone near me in a restaurant orders cooked asparagus or brussels sprouts, I can barley eat my meal. The smell is completely disgusting to me.

The mercury levels in fish, trans-fatty acids produced in the frying of meats etc. pose a great health risk. If you want to kill yourself by consuming these foods, go right ahead and do it in the privacy of your own home. But please don't force me to inhale the exhaust of hot gas-ranges in restaurants if I'm trying to enjoy my meal in a public place! Keep your disgusting habits to yourself please.

I hate smoking. I tried once when I was 14 and it lasted for a few days but I stopped before things got worse for me. That was 6 years ago. I'm glad both my girlfriend and I don't smoke. We can't stand when people smoke and hate that they smoke. It destroys your life. It takes away your money and your health. All those harmful substances going into your body, ouch.gif mad.gif

I do not smoke. I do not like smoke around me. You smokers don't realize that smoking kills your senses. That's why you all use salt. That's why you can never smell the smoke on you. I had to put out a cigarette the other day at the office because someone else forgot to and my hand smelled like it for hours, even after washing it 5 times! The smell of smoke makes me sick (literally!) Now, if you smokers wish to smoke then that's your own perogative. I can even deal with it around myself when I am at a club or something... but tell me why, since none of you smokers have the respect not to smoke around kids, I should have to subject my kids to that? You think my 2 1/2 year old, who had to say "goodbye" to her kitty because she had an ashma attack that put her in the hospital because of the cat, wants to be around that? Do you think smoke is good for my 7 month old daughter with her still developing lungs? Do you all realize your walls are yellow from smoking? Or the inside of your car? Do you realize that smokers are the greatest litterers? Every time I see one of you a******s throw a "butt" out of your car window it makes me want to drive around picking up every butt I can find and fill the back of my truck... follow you home and dump it on your yard! If you want to smoke then fine... just don't be so thoughtless. Also, why is it every smoker in the world believes that because they smoke they are entitled to stand outside for 10 minutes out of every hour smoking while their non-smoker co-workers are still working?

Wow! I can't believe how many other people here hate smokers like I do. Which is kind of weird since I’m a POTHEAD! But I can not stand cig smoke; it makes me sick by giving me a headache. I hate watching parents smoke around their kids to it makes me so angry knowing that the kids are dealing with the 2nd hand smoke and have a much higher change of smoking when they grow up. The only reason that smoking cigs is legal in the USA is because of the money that it brings in via taxes. For that same reason they should legalize marijuana and tax it the same way. I think that’s better then cigs anyway less addicting. www.thetruth.com is a GREAT website also and I love their commercials.

Anyways, don't want to turn this into a drug battle... SilverHaze420, you should be ashamed that you would make such a statement when there are so many underage kids who frequent this site. Don't be stupid.

I am a smoker. I have been for about 2 years now, and I hate it. But it's an endless cycle...every time I try to quit, someone gets on my a** about how "stupid I was to ever start" or about what it can do to you, or how second hand smoke could kill them...well, for god's sake, I'm not a dumbass, I know this. Walking by me smoking a cigarette is not going to kill you, if you don't like it, hold you breath for a second or two, but say enough of this crap to me, you just might wish it had. I am SO sick and tired of every non-smoker deciding to make it their personal vendetta to inform me of the dangers of smoking. I KNOW THESE THINGS!!!! For god's sake, even my pack of cigarettes today included a stop smoking pamphlet!!! If you want me to quit, shut the f*** up already, and keep your comments to yourself, you can't say a **** thing I don't already know. I smoke to escape from the stress of everyday life...you aren't helping.

Furthermore, for that arrogant prick who stated that the guy smoking 4 cars up was bugging him, you have obviously never driven a car before in your life. The smoke from a cigarette does not come out the window and just stay there, the motion of the air around the car dissipates it, the person in the car behind the smoker might get the slightest whif of it (assuming absolutely no wind whatsoever), but certainly not someone 4 cars back.

Also, about the litter. I cannot count the number of times I have seen someone chuck a drink cup or fast food bag out the window, or how often I've seen the remains of a blown truck tire scattered all over the road. And you might argue that there are 50 times more cigarrette butts out there than all of these combined...but where are they?? I see ugly mangled black rubber, I see four year old soda cans, and brown paper bags so moulded into the road that only the rain will eventually get rid of them...but I have never EVER noticed a single cigarrette butt on the highway.

As for the whole 20-feet from buildings thing, I feel your pain, that's the rule at my college. It drives me nuts, because people will come out if you're only standing 10 feet from the entrance and tell you so. I mean, this is ridiculous, most of the time it's about 10 degrees, and the side of the building only stretches for around 10 feet, so you freeze your a** off. Not to mention that on a few of the buildings, 20 feet would put you dad-smack in the middle of either the sidewalk or the road, I would think being a little closer to the building would be preferred. And come on, how little of that smoke is actually going to make it into the building from 10 feet away? I'll bet more comes in on my clothing then would from my cigarette.

And the health risk. There's a health risk every time you walk out the door. Hell, I've known just as many people who've died in car crashes as who've died from lung cancer...but the ones who died in accidents were a heck of a lot younger, and much more dearly missed, because noone ever would have suspected it was coming. Unless you live in a hut with no contact with the outside world, you know there's a danger to smoking. If you choose to accept that danger, then so be it. But for god's sake, please shut up about it, I long for a day when I don't hear about it at least twice.

And just to clarify, I'm not trying to defend smoking itself, I'm defending my right to smoke. I have made my decision that smoking is not something I wish to do for the rest of my life (and my girlfriend really doesn't care for it either), but if I did, I believe that I should have the right to do so peacefully, without every prick on the **** planet nitpicking because his coat now stinks from walking by five feet from me. YOU PEOPLE PlSS ME OFF!!! (in case you hadn't figured that out by now)

@Drakhan: as others have said, don't be a dumbass...not starting is the easiest way to quit. Why do you want to, you have friends that do it? Trust me, when they're all bitching about how hard it is to quit (and they will be, something tells me you're underage and that's why you're not doing it yet) you'll be able to laugh in their faces. And besides, do you really want to listen to every arrogant as***** tell you the same dozen reasons why you should quit? Believe me, it's enough to drive you crazy

As for dope...the name says it all. I've tried it twice, and I don't see the point. It was almost definately THE SINGLE worst thing I've ever tasted, and even worse, it doesn't just go away, not in a day, not even a week. For about 2 weeks after you toke up, you have that horrible taste, which I can only describe as what you might imagine eating burned citrus fruit like, every time you take a drink, or worse, smoke. Being a pothead is nothing to be proud of...I don't know about where you live, but here, potheads usually can't get a decent job (especially if it's obvious) and wind up living off their parents/their girl's parents/etc, etc. Is throwing your life away really worth short high sensation?

How about our right to stand outside and breath fresh air.... I can be at the park with my kid and someone will be smoking.. not only around their kids but around other peoples kid too.. What other weak mind id*** is that inconsiderate? Smokers take the cake. Selfish and self centered.

Your post is riddled with excuses. Preach to me when you are able to control your addiction and stop. You claim you try but everyone who cares about you expresses concern bothers you and makes you start smoking again? Wha no.gif So now it is your loved ones fault you are a junky?

You are still a young kid in college. Wait until you grow up and live life a bit. I promise your views will change severly.

Recognizing you have a problem is the first step. Stop blaming others. There is no way to justify your inconsiderate habit which harms others around. Just quit. You know the risks.. you know the facts,, you know the outcome. Just do it. Once you get your senses back after a year or two of no smoking you will be amazed at how much the stench is around you and you will think back to this post. whistling.gif

Now to rant about the companies that sell these things. How come we can send a man to the moon, create bullet proof glass, cheese in a can, and edible panties but we can't make a smokeless/oderless cigarette?

I voted for no and I really hate smokers. The scent hangs up in your clothes and your skin. The stinking smell gives a headache and it's going cold down my back.......

No and I hate smokers, that is from an ex-smoker. yes.gif

I know I'm a bore but that is how I feel about the "stink" of stale ciggy smoke.
I stopped in 1975, my doc. says when asked if I smoked to answer "never".
It has just dawned on me that that is 30 years ago, wow!!.

Edit: I don't hate the person only the habit. no.gif
