i have a problem, wonder if anybody has any ideas on it. i recently bought 2 512MB ddr 2100/266MHZ memory strips and my board which is a ECS K7AMA has sdram & ddr slots on it. and it supports this memomry. the problem i have is that the board recognizes the memory and then Windows 2000 starts to load, then it reboots. i can't even get the os in any form to load. and i have flashed cmos already. and it still happens. another issue has come along with this one. my board no longer recognizes my chip as a 1Ghz now it says it's a 750MHZ.

a couple of things to try :

is the jumper configuration correct? aka do you need to change jumpers to run different kinds of memory

have you tried it a single stick at a time?

what kind of psu?

can you get into the bios?

if you can check the bios settings. can you set the fsb and multi manually? can you relax the memory timing at all?

keep looking you'll get it.

Like Pornloader said, it sounds like your FSB speed is incorrect, check the mother board manual for the correct way to set it. it may be in your BIOS or a dip switch / jumper on the main board.

ok, i am stumped everything is being recognized correctly now, and the fsb is correctly set, i am still have issues with 2000. it still insists to continuous reboot. i'll probably have to reinstall, biut **** that will take a low of work. good thing i have my laptop so at least i can get online

After you reinstall,if it does the same thing I suspect that your power supply is failing.I had a similar problem with a system I built about 8mos. ago.I also checked out some boards with K7AMA mobo problems and there was a recurring problem with ddr memory and 200 fsb processors running on that board.Clearing the cmos and reseating the mem sticks seemed to get some boards going again.Of course these mobos wouldn't even boot so your psu came to mind.Let us know what happens after you reinstall techguy.

hi all, well i went ahead and reinstalled win 2k. and everything is working now.....also updated teh bios while i was at it. i'm guessing there was never really any real problem with the memory and the board...just that 2000 didn't like the sudden switch. oh well it needed to be blowed and redone anyway thanks for the help... w00t
