ive been wondering this for quite sometime as my hardware seems to be building up dust and i think it needs to be blasted off. my dad has an air compressor but its the kind that takes paint off cars, hehehe.

does anyone know any usefull tools, techniques etc of clearing ur machine of dust.

let me know

Use a vacuum cleaner or a dust cloth...They should both work fine...If not, use something, not pressurized, that sprays air...
sedative
Canned air.

i bought a 2" pain tbrush. never used for anything but cleaning the pc.

canned air is also usefull but only blows the dust somewhere else.

using a vac can build up static on your equipment. i would only use it on a fan or heatsink thats been taken off of the electrical gear.

I use the large cannister of pressurised air from me dad's work van, outside of course cool.gif
Doggie
definetly compressed air in a can etc.. and gamehead.. a vacuum ? LOL tongue.gif

I use a vacuum, its ideal because its plastic and cant hold electric charges and doesent blow the dust elsewhere.

The same here, a huge 8 bar thing smile.gif - works like a charm!

Canned air and a dust devil (portable vacuum cleaner).

The air itself passing over the circuitry.. laden with dust, can form static charges....

not that its very likley anyway.

also.. a vac is good to get the loose stuff up.. then you gotta clean it properly, best ways i know are air can or paint brush. The paint brush will last a lot longer newwink.gif

i just had to strip my system, theres a lot of building work going on here.. new kitchen fitted, new bathroom.

i took my mobo out and took the fan off the top of my Zalman cooler, easier than taking the fan off the board as its a bolt on one. there was that much dust i eventually had to strip the whole lot off and clean it on a anti static foam mat on the floor... theres was just too much dust.
Heres what i found:

BTW.. thats about 2 weeks of dust!

pc is on 24/7 and with all the dust in the air...
MSNwar
WOW. only two weeks and look at that. What about the PSU?

What about laptop keyboards? Air or vacuum?
gamehead200
That's a lot of dust for 2 weeks...I wonder what my Dell looks like inside...Left it on for 3 weeks once...

I wonder how much dust I have in my server, last time I cleaned it was last june and its never been turned off since.
Drewdatrip

Vacuum and/or Air Can about 12 inches away from the surface. Experiment getting a little closer as it depends on the stability of the keyboard. Putting laptop keys back on is a pain in the arse. If you see the CPU sucked up into the vacuum you know you got a little to close newwink.gif
