Planning to overclock? Go with the Opteron.

Not overclocking? The San Diego.

1 is overclocking bad for it and it means it will die in a few years
2. i dont know how to overclock all i want is somthing that can play games in the years to come fast

i would go with the venice 3500+ due to it being 60$ cheaper...
double cache is NOT going to effect your gaming preformance AT ALL.
the area where this cache will help is video/cad work and since your going amd i would asume that you are doing nither.

however that opteron being cheaper would be my choice but since your not a ocing person i would not get it

well it depends, for 512kb more cache 50$ might matter to you. if u can afford it then get the 3700
