Those Plastic exhaust pipes only come on some cases, I believe it sits above the CPU to help airflow?

Yes, itīs an intake aimed at the cpu fan, itīs not an exhaust pipe tongue.gif. and indeed it keep your CPU a bit cooler, I use them too in my cheap a** 40US$ cases smile.gif.

I used to use an intake pipe on mine too, although it was a little more ghetto (old peanut can woot.gif ). A while ago I got fed up with the noise and ripped everything out, mounted it on a board and stuck it up on a beam in the basement. I converted my DVDRW to a USB unit and routed all my cables through the floor. Now it's in the cool basement and I hear nothing but silence. thumbup.gif

I like that.. It's seriously more weird than I am.. blink.gif

No, I like taxying down the runway in my 747. Maybe I can watch the inflight movie. If I could hear it. I always wanted to watch movies on a little screen and in an uncomfortable office chair. Must get VISTA with the built in Media Center. no.gif

Maybe I should get one of these?

The blueprint showed a central PowerPC that was complemented by 1024 (that is one thousand and twenty four) 8-bit "processing elements" on a single and - according to IBM - low-cost die.

Rapport is already offering the Kilocore256, which comes with 256 processing elements and provides a performance of "25 GB operations/second at well under a single watt of power," IBM said. The firm claims that the Kilocores "feature the most advanced, dynamic architecture available today in working silicon"

You're right, if the fan is blowing on the CPU, then it's a sucker, and not a blower. whistling.gif

Yes, buy one of those and throw your money away on something you will never use newwink.giftongue.gif. IBM introduced those CPUs on the Cbit I think. Are you going to write your own OS like for the XBox360 again? thumbup.gif It will NOT run windows like you use it on your small rig.

This is an old picture of a P2-233. It used to be my router for my cable-modem internet connection. This was before Linksys, Netgear, etc. made comodity routers. It was Linux and ran Squid cache, DNS caching, DHCP, ipchains firewall, etc.

ripken204
well my dad still uses a p2 350mhz... runs amazing with my nlited xp
jftuga
If it runs 'amazing', then why don't you swap your opteron 170 @ 2.6ghz for his p2? biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

-John
ripken204
lol, for what he does it runs very well. and whats funny is that it runs faster than the p4 2.8ghz comps at my school which are not nlited, but im thinking of doing something about that when i get to be the network administartor smile.gif

when u log into the comp, it should not freeze on you...
Maleko
lol, to right mate!

I've been able to install an nlited version on our school computers, testing it atm, running totally sweet, MP10 integrated, loads of the crap you dont need on a school comp removed, very nice!
ripken204
well even stuff like the games that come with windows... my school installed the basic windows on a computer and installed the programs it needed, edited some stuff, then ghosted it, then installed to all of the other comps over the network. now there is just a bunch of stupid stuff they did like for the games i was talking about, they deleted the game .exe's from the windows folder but not the shortcuts.... or they could easily have used nlite. they just have no clue what they are doing since my school just got xp this year, 2000 rly sucked.
Maleko
that sucks, here we hate orphan shortcuts, looks really messy. Our computers are totally secured as well, the user only sees the programs we ant them to use, they cant get into areas we dont want them to.
prx984

ya i just noticed that too. almost all boards have the dual channell setup for slot (1+3) or (2+4) but occasionaly you find boards where its (1+2) and (3+4). just some stupid crap.
