Note to the creators of the unofficial Win2000 SP5 package - I was wondering if the KB838018 hotfix is included. It's a hotfix that updates the FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions under Windows 2000. If it isn't can it be added into the next release of unofficial Win2000 SP5? it would be a nice addition for Win2k users who have installed the Frontpage 2000 Server Extensions.

Any news?? Please tell me some good news soon. I've been trying to get it from MS PSS myself but they wont let me have it unless I pay.

I think this LAST USP 5.1 release somehow deserves a little extra attention, so I'm adding the 4 security updates from this week in the meanwhile. Hope noone minds rolleyes.gif

(ps - by LAST USP 5.1 I mean that NEXT USP will be 5.2 - so this one has to last a few months)

I just registered today for two reasons - I felt bad about using the USP5.1 without having a way to thank Gurgelmeyer (thanks a lot! welcome.gif ) and secondly, I was following this topic on 838018 - and checked the usual places to see if this fix could be downloaded somewhere. While I didn't find a download as such, I did hit upon the list of fixes in Windows XP SP2 -

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...%5BLN%5D;811113

Reason for this coming up in Google was that it included, wait for it,

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=838018

The article listed an install of Office 2000 SP3 as requirement for this fix, and it listed the files that
would be installed:

I went into my Windows XP installation and confirmed that the first two files were present, and of the version listed.
The question I have now is - would we be able to use the files from Windows XP SP2 for the hotfix ? I think the technical answer is yes, but I am unsure about the legal aspect. I know that we're not supposed to use WXP SP2 files if we do not own a copy of XP, but, as we do own a copy of Win2000, are we allowed to take the hotfixes from wherever we can get them ?

Thanks again, regards, w2kfan
-I-
its rather illigal - so i vote against it (and wisper at Gurgle - that as long as i dont know about it, he is more than welcome to add these files).
GRINNNNNNN
Gurgelmeyer
Good news: I got the real files now. Funny - because literally every bit of them match the XPSP2 ones. blink.gif

It's in the latest USP's, which I've just uploaded (they will probably be available for dl very soon).

Best regards
