Hi, Ive recently bought a p4 2.66 D 805 and am trying to set it up with an arctic cooler heatsink, abit 775 socket board, 256 pci-e, 2 gigs of ddr2 667 in dual, western dig raptor 150 gig, all inside an antec box with a 450w psu. Everything looks right except when i tried to install a 64 bit version of windows xp pro it went through the formatting and at the next stage of the format it crashed and gave the ntldr error. Ive tried setting the boot sequence to cd cd hd, cd cd cd, etc. with no success. when i try to load from the cd it gives this promt to press any key and i tried many times but doesnt respond and then the hd tries to load (because of no key pressing?) and it gives that error. keyboard works fine in bios. whats wrong? mobo temp is at 99f. but this heatsink should be taking the heat of the chip better than the stock. what should i do? everybody here seems to know what theyre talking about so i appeal to a higher source, you guys. thanks for your time

Is the HDD S-ATA or IDE? If it's S-ATA, have you got the drivers on a floppy disk? If yes, did you press F6 when prompted?

no sir, no drivers on a floppy. dont even have a floppy connected. i tried swapping the 80 line cord from the dvd drive and unplugging the second drive. the hd is a sata. not sure what the prob is but im trying to find a non wireless keyboard to see if i can press the button so the dvd can load. not sure if thats the problem or not. thanks again!

is the hdd detected in the bios and/or xp setup? also, try another sata cable.

Boot your XP CD and at the first promp press "r" then follow the instructions. When you get to the prompt type "chkdsk C: /P /R" After this has finished type "fixmbr". If this doesn't work then reinstall windows. If it still doesn't work after that your probably looking at a filing harddrive.
