Greetings
Does anyone know what if any time line there is to when the (MCP) Vista test will be available? Also is there any "Official" study material available for it now?

I'm going to have to "Fast Track" some of the office staff through this one (long story...), so I need to get a jump on the info.

Thank You

71-620 is the first MS test for vista,
this entails installation and configuration of Vista. there will be 2 seperate tracks for vista that point, enterprise and consumer/home. those tests are still being finalized. 71-620 you should see publicaly available probably around Januaury, there are lots of classes out on it already. took the beta Test in November smile.gif we will see how i did later this month!

Hm... ok, so 70-210 = 70-270 = 71-620? Or is it 71-620 + a 2nd test? If you can provide me with a link to the info that would be greatly appreciated. I've had no luck digging through MS's site trying to pin it down.

Thank You

Is that all, just enterprise and consumer/home? No business (yet), or is that what you mean by 'consumer' or 'enterprise' ?

ok here is what i can say,

MCTS (Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist) is the single Cert standard now
(71-620) Windows Vista: Configuration certification

2 paths form there

MCITP: Consumer Support Technician
MCITP: Enterprise Support Technician

Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) consists of the base MCTS test and 2 MCITP tests. If you are a MCDST there will be an upgrade test (71-621)

so to anwser your question Stoic is no, there is no direct path from the old certs, nothing really lines up evenly

you can find more info here on upcoming tests and certs.

Betas for Vista tests and office tests have started and those of you who are MCPs should be able to sign up for those beta tests (still costs money though!!!) and get ahead of the curve. if you pass the beta test you gain the certification smile.gif

Ok thanks, I can work with that for now. I'm just trying to gauge what I'm going to be up against getting some of our office staff certified for Vista support.

depending on how long they have been working on vista you might be better off sending them to a class or 2 before trying the exams, i have been working with it for the last year plus and the exams still had a couple things i didn't know, they are making them pretty hard this time around. oh and if you too find out more of what is covered on each test check it out here
